Big Bad Wolf is Wilf Wolf's hero and Little Red Riding Hood is his favourite story, although pages are mysteriously missing from the end of the story. One day, on his way back from Wolfworths, Wilf meets a boy called Little Fred who has just been visiting his granny and who is wearing a red hood! Wilf can't believe his luck and plans to gobble Fred's granny, just like in the story! But when Wilf knocks on granny's door he gets a shock. Granny is six foot tall! She's the granny Little Fred visits on Saturday, not the small, tasty-looking one that Wilf saw on Thursday! Little Fred and his Saturday granny chase Wilf through the woods threatening to marmalise him! Poor Wilf! Time to find a new favourite book. How about "The Three Little Pigs"? This is a hilarious story for all naughty wolves!
About the Author
Michael first started writing when he won a Scholastic/Independent 'Story of the Year' award for Little Fred Riding Hood. He is now a prolific writer and visits schools and libraries when not writing. He lives in the Nottinghamshire countryside with his wife, his cat and his four fish. Liz Million completed an Art foundation course in Art and Design and then did a BA in Illustration. She got her first break with Walker Books and in the two and a half years since has completed six books. She lives in Co. Durham.

A fun read, with lovely illustrations,

This is a lively modern version of the old Little Red Riding Hood story, perfect bedtime reading for children aged 5-7. We bought the book after a visit by illustrator Liz Million to my eight-year-old son's school and I thought it may be a little babyish for him. Not at all. He read the book to me and he loved it, for both its humour and fantastic illustrations.

I was appalled at the content of this book - as a re-writing of an old fairy tale it is abysmal. the language and grammar are poor, the content weak and the actual dialogue awful. the use of colloquialisms as well as poor grammatical context and phrases that in all honestly I am lost for words. The use of words that are not actually correct or valid, the use of violence and threatening language left me so taken aback that I simply had to close the book and ban my 7 year old from reading it. As a teacher myself I am at a loss to know how or why this type of book is seen as a good example of teaching a child to read. no wonder our children have such a poor grasp of the English language and all it's variances when they are subjected to such trivia as this - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
