Product Description

How small businesses and start-ups can make a big splash with a small marketing budget.

Many clients ask me the same questions, so I find myself saying the same things, giving the same advice and sharing the same stories. The underlying message is "use a professional". But I recognise that, when you're starting out or on a low budget, there are times when you'd rather do it yourself.

This book tells you how.

As a firm believer in 'knowledge is power', if you want to learn a few essentials about marketing your small, home-based or pre-start up business this book will be great for for you.

A quick easy read (I've read it twice already!) with many examples, straight forward pointers and good advice about 'writing without waffle', you can make your messages clear, concise and more effective.

Jackie's Bonus Tips for Start-Ups and Final 10 Tips will help consolidate your learning.

I've a few pages turned over to go back to myself, and will be recommending this to my clients working on their marketing and pre-start-up business plans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to Learn 1 Nov 2010
By unique
Format:Paperback
I love the intriguing title of this book and the chatty style of the text with examples from the author's own experience. It's easy to understand. The statistics, diagrams and graphs add weight to what is said and the exercises reinforce it thus making it personal for the reader; even the touches of humour help illustrate the points made.

One of the things I learnt as a customer was WIIFM; for example, on the radio I heard about a new bank opening in Aldwych. This captured my interest, as it seems an unlikely time for such a thing to happen. The bank went on to explain that no dividends would be paid and that they proposed to open more branches in the next two years. There was nothing to reassure their customers that money deposited would be safe or that there was anything to their advantage at all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Fish 28 Oct 2010
Format:Paperback
Little fish will soon become big fish if they take the advice in this book. It's a book for busy people because it's brilliantly created to either dip in and out of or to absorb in one sitting, if you're that way inclined. The stories and exercises draw you in, so much so that you feel you ought to have a go and see how you fair.

The Little Fish Guide encourages you to develop your marketing skills, whatever your start point and if you even take one piece of advice or try one simple suggestion you are taking the step to becoming a bigger fish.
