After 2 successful EPs, this 2008 release is the first full length album from indie guitar rockers Pete and the Pirates. It's unashamedly feelgood stuff, laden with great hooks, driving rhythms and some interesting lyrics. There's something indefinable that marks them out as a cut above all the other guitar led indie rock bands out there. Perhaps its the sense of fun and joy rather than gloomy existentialism and teenage angst that seems to dominate the market so much. Whatever it is, it makes for a great record of infectious music. 4 stars.
