This book was given to my youngest daughter and it's a work of art! Not only is it well written, but the technology behind the playing of each individual musical part is simple, yet effective. At present (21 months old) she can't quite press the buttons, as they're quite hard to press, but that does not detract from the story and it leaves the timing to the reader, which is probably the best way. The musical parts all come together at the end of the story - sheer magic!
To top it off, unlike many modern musical books, this one actually allows you to change the battery when it runs out of energy. Haven't had to do this yet, but we have other books with flat batteries that no longer work - very sad for children and parents alike. This one, I hope, will go on and on for many years. Who knows, when she's studying GCSE Music in 14 years, she may use the book as the basis of coursework! Well done to Usborne and especially to Fiona Watt.
