Product Description

Review

"Just about the most charming food book I’ve come across this year" (Samuel Muston Independent)

"Liam and Grace are my kind of people - East London, tea-drinking anthropomorphism lovers. The Little Book of Scones is a creative explosion and charming celebration of the humble scone ... so much so that you may never eat an ordinary scone again - be warned." (Angel Adoree, author of The Vintage Tea Party Book)

"Anyone with a penchant for all things vintage will love this book, which comes complete with quirky illustrations and – our favourite – a musical recommendation to listen to while you’re making each scone" (Sunday Business Post)

"A charming gift book" (The English Can Cook)

"Scone connoisseurs Liam D’Arcy and Grace Hall run a busy market stall in their spare time selling their scone creations and now they share some of their inventive recipes in this cute book. It contains all sorts of sweet and savoury scone recipes, from Pesto and Chorizo to Golden Syrup Roly Poly" (Choice)

I had been looking forward to receiving this book in the post, mainly because I'm a proud Mum and my daughter drew the wonderful pictures! But within 15 minutes I had my mixing bowl out and the resulting 'Basic Sweet Scones' were fabulous (and my normal scones have always been a bit iffy). Maybe it's the custard powder or the 'chaffing' - but whatever the magic ingredient - it worked brilliantly. Scrummy. So which ones shall I make next? Becka recommends the Pesto and Chorizo or the Feta, garlic and spring onion!

I received my book earlier this week and decided to make the first I came to on randomly opening the book. Bring on the chorizo and pesto savoury scone - delicious! Now in the mood, I also baked the basic sweet scone recipe and feeling uber confident by now, put together my own recipe based on a couple of the others I had seen in the book. My kitchen is full to the brim of scones, which I will take to the family to sample tomorrow. This is a lovely little book, easy to read and loving the "for the radio" and story behind the book. Of course I might be a little biased - well done little cuz xx

I do not bake and I do not cook however this book may be the first thing to encourage me to do so! The book is delightful! It's quirky illustrations provide a unique visual treat and it's radio song suggestions make it fun and original! Grace and Liam have done an incredible job and reading about them and how they got All Scone started is inspiring!
This is a must buy!!!

LOVING this book of delicious treats. Recipes are easy to follow and so creative. Illustrations are amazing. And the 'For the Radio' tracks are brilliant - unearthed some great old albums on these recommendations. Can't get enough of this book! Great job Liam and Grace! Who are these people?!

I was charmed by this little book of scones from the moment it arrived. Its cute pictures, design, and helpful ingredients format - "for the radio [a song recommendation - for each recipe!], for the bowl, for the jug, for the top" quickly help you see what you need to be organised, and the recipes are a mix of sweet, savoury, and all mouth-watering.... pesto and chorizo scone, anyone?

Above all, though, it's the encouraging tone of voice of Liam and Grace, their enthusiasm for the humble scone, and their determination to encourage you to re-discover the potential of this most mis-pronounced baking speciality for yourself, that makes this book stand out.

It would also make a very lovely and original gift for anyone who bakes or who might like to start, and I have it in mind as a present for quite a few family members already!

I tried the basic scone recipe and was not impressed. I am a highly experienced baker and know what I am doing so if the scones are not good I know it is the recipe.

I tried the recipe again but this time added 2 teaspoons of baking powder to the self raising flour and the results were better.
The first lot were dense, heavy and inedible. Although the chickens ate them.

I was seduced into buying book because of all the interesting variations, but the basic recipe is not as good as the one I have been using for years. The book is style of substance, I am afraid. I may just use some of the ideas but with my own basic scone recipe.

I love the style and story in this book, especially the music suggested to listen to as you are making each recipe. I bake several times a week but never scones as there is already an expert in my family. I attempted my first scones, cherry an almond, from the book to take to a friend's and they were pretty impressive. I cannot wait to try all of the other unusual combinations included, and armed with this book feel as though I can finally match my sister in scone making. There are loads of useful hints at the beginning and space to write your own notes at the back. It would make a lovely present, so I will probably buy a few more copies.

I am a bit of a keen baker myself but i must admit I've never been a huge scone fan. Yes it's true, i admit it! After reading this book however, and baking just one recipe I've been converted. This book is adorable. From the illustrations to the quirky little touches, the fabulous recipes and the story of how it all began for Grace and Liam. I will be buying this book as gifts for everyone! Keep up the good work kestrels x
