5.0 out of 5 stars Delighful short stories for Christmas 4 Dec 2011
By Nemo
Format:Kindle Edition
Four delightful short stories, all with a Christmas theme.

The first is "The Conversion of Hetherington" - a story about a wealthy man who temporarily stands in for a poor man employed to be a Santa.

The second is "The Child Who Had Everything But" - about a man who is taken by a ghost to visit a sad little boy.

The third is "Santa Claus and Little Billee" - about a boy who gets lost and meets "Santa"

Finally there's "The House of the Seven Santas" - about a freezing child who is rescued by some benevolent men stranded at their Club during a snowstorm.

The stories were published in 1912 but have a real Victorian/Dickensian Christmas feel about them.

There are also a few poems with Christmas themes thrown in for good measure.

Heart-warming Christmas reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Roll on Christmas 8 Sep 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I agree with Maria, lovely stories and poems appropriate to the season. A bit Victoriana but predictable and joyful nontheless.

This book was a pleasant enough read to get one in the mood for the fast approaching Christmas period. The Victorian stories were pleasing enough, but I enjoyed the poetry more.

3.0 out of 5 stars A sweet little book 6 Dec 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I struggled to give a star rating for this, and erred on the stingey side of 3 rather than 4 stars.

This is a sweet little book. Rather twee and predictable, but it does help get you into the Christmas Spirit, especially the last of the four stories. It won't stand up to competitors like Dickens, but it's well worth a read, especially as a free download.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Little Book of Christmas 25 Nov 2011
By rich
Format:Kindle Edition
If a book could be described as being soft and gentle then this is it. Each story left me misty eyed. My only critisism ? The book's too short.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a lovely heartwarming book. 24 Sep 2012
By Pyewacket TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE

The short tales in this book are really heartwarming and gave me a nice kind of fuzzy, happy feeling inside. I'd recommend this to anyone seeking to cheer themselves up. There is also a kind of moralistic thread running through the stories.........there is always someone worse off than you are.
