DVD Description

Marley Corbett (Kate Hudson) is young, beautiful, and wildly funny, but she’s afraid of opening herself up to true love and commitment. Though she uses her humour to prevent matters from getting serious, a life-changing visit to her doctor (Gael Garcia Bernal) sends both of them on an eye-opening adventure of mutual discovery, leading to revelations neither thought possible.

Emotional 7 Sep 2011
By Sweetlilac TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
I have literally just finished watching this and my eyes are red and sore from crying, my cheeks are stinging and my face is blotchy.

Very sad emotional film, kate hudson plays her funny quirky self as she seems to do in every film nowadays but whilst this film is a lot of a fun and filled with jokes, it does deal with the very real issue that millions of us face at somepoint in our lives. Cancer.

Kate plays Marley, a fun loving advertising and marketing executive who starts to become ill and prompted by her friends she finally goes to see the doctor and has to have surgery.

Whilst under the anaesthetic she visits with god played by the wonderful whoopi goldberg who tells her that she is dying and gives her 3 wishes. Marley laughs this off and flippantly says ok i want to fly, i want a million dollars and when prompted to ask her 3rd wish, she doesn't know what she wants, but god does.

Marley wakes up from her surgery and discovers that she has inoperable colon cancer.

This film then goes into heartbreaking detail about how Marley not only deals with facing the very real tuth that she only has a short time to live but how she deals with and resolves her issues with her parents and her friends before its too late.

This film really hit home for me as i have had people in my life who have had cancer and its heartbreaking but very real.

I agree with another reviewer i dont believe this is a romantic comedy, i also believe this is a drama, more along the lines of my sisters keeper, that kind of thing.

Will break your heart, i know it did mine..

Saw this at the cinema and will buy the DVD when it comes out. Ended up in tears (as did others) at the end of the film, as I've got friends who've gone through cancer treatment so some of the dialogue hit raw nerves. None the less an excellent film and one which puts life's day to day problems very much in perspective.

Dissapointed
After watching for about 1 hour, I lost interest in viewing the rest.
The film gets donated to the local library.

A sad ending
Unlike many romantic stories this one doesn't miraculously have a miracle ending. It is a bit of a tear jerker ending, but I love Kate Hudson movies and this one is up to scratch. Read more

A little bit of depression
The most boring film I have seen this year so far. The characters are dull and the whole story is very depressing.
