Kate Hudson (ALMOST FAMOUS) takes centre stage for this romantic comedy in which she stars as Marley, a gorgeous young woman with a huge lust for life. Her world is turned upside down when she visits her doctor (Gael Garcia Bernal - Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN) and discovers she is terminally ill. But for a woman who has spent most of her adult life shielding herself from commitment, her life-changing discovery is the catalyst for her to embark on an adventure with the hunky medic in tow...

I have literally just finished watching this and my eyes are red and sore from crying, my cheeks are stinging and my face is blotchy.

Very sad emotional film, kate hudson plays her funny quirky self as she seems to do in every film nowadays but whilst this film is a lot of a fun and filled with jokes, it does deal with the very real issue that millions of us face at somepoint in our lives. Cancer.

Kate plays Marley, a fun loving advertising and marketing executive who starts to become ill and prompted by her friends she finally goes to see the doctor and has to have surgery.

Whilst under the anaesthetic she visits with god played by the wonderful whoopi goldberg who tells her that she is dying and gives her 3 wishes. Marley laughs this off and flippantly says ok i want to fly, i want a million dollars and when prompted to ask her 3rd wish, she doesn't know what she wants, but god does.

Marley wakes up from her surgery and discovers that she has inoperable colon cancer.

This film then goes into heartbreaking detail about how Marley not only deals with facing the very real tuth that she only has a short time to live but how she deals with and resolves her issues with her parents and her friends before its too late.

This film really hit home for me as i have had people in my life who have had cancer and its heartbreaking but very real.

I agree with another reviewer i dont believe this is a romantic comedy, i also believe this is a drama, more along the lines of my sisters keeper, that kind of thing.

Will break your heart, i know it did mine..

Saw this at the cinema and will buy the DVD when it comes out. Ended up in tears (as did others) at the end of the film, as I've got friends who've gone through cancer treatment so some of the dialogue hit raw nerves. None the less an excellent film and one which puts life's day to day problems very much in perspective.

A Little Bit of Heaven (formerly titled Earthbound) is a 2011 romantic comedy directed by Nicole Kassell and starring Kate Hudson and Gael García Bernal.[1]

Marley Corbett, a carefree woman with a promising career, great friends, and witty sense of humor, learns that she has terminal cancer. She is told the news by Dr. Julian Goldstein, a successful doctor with a hardened exterior, who is deeply impressed and affected by the way Marley accepts the news of her fate with humor and dignity. While under anesthesia, God appears to Marley as played by Whoopi Goldberg. In her dream, Marley makes three wishes: money, to fly and a third that is later revealed. From there, Marley and Julian find themselves falling in love, and doing their best to make the most of the time they have left

Marley Corbett is loving her life. She's single but has plenty of men that she can call whenever she needs some 'male company', she has her 2 best friends in the world, and a gorgeous little apartment too. However, when she starts to feel a bit under the weather, she decides to head to the doctor for a check up. He quickly delivers the news that Marley is suffering from cancer, and that its pretty far gone. Even for Marley and her cheerful outlook on life, this is a lot to deal with, not to mention the very different reactions she gets from her friends as well. Marley has to cope with a disease that is slowly robbing her of her own life, and her flourishing relationship with her doctor, Julian Goldstein. Is Marley going to be able to beat the disease, or is it a case of sorting out her affairs before it's too late? Will she ever find her own little bit of heaven?

Kate Hudson plays cancer-stricken Marley, and I felt she did a very good job with what is quite a hard role. She begins quite a light-hearted character, putting forward her comedy acting as usual, but then when the film takes a more serious turn, she tries to almost continue that nonchalant attitude despite what's happening and I found that a little hard. Also, even though to look more ill Hudson refrains from wearing any make-up, she still looks well if you know what I mean, and her full head of blonde curls is sure to anger some viewers, even though not all cancer sufferers lose their hair during their treatment, yet I felt Hollywood wouldn't go that far which was a shame. However, I can't fault Hudson too much in her performance, and I really enjoyed her chemistry with co-star Gael García Bernal, who plays her doctor Julian Goldstein.

Firstly, I want people to understand that my 3-star rating is meant to be an average rating between myself and my wife. On this basis, I may have been a bit over-generous since my wife would give it 4 stars, and I would give it 1.
This film is thoughtfully put together, well-acted, and will have strong appeal to women. It's ideally suited for a girl's night in.
If you're a bloke and looking for a few brownie points, or credits towards your next 3-night screening of "Lord of the Rings", put on something else; this is a painfully extreme chick-flick - right up there with "Beaches".
