Ashley Chantler lives in Merseyside, UK.

His flash fiction and poetry have been published in various periodicals, including Anon, The Frogmore Papers, London Magazine, Orbis, Poetry Monthly, Rain Dog, Red Ink, Shadowtrain, and Vigil. He is author of the novella He Is the Fire (2013), the illustrated children's poem Nana and Grape (2004), and the poetry collection In Praise of Paving (2003).

He is editor of An Anatomy of Chester: A Collection of Short-Short Stories (2007) and co-editor of Literature and Authenticity, 1780-1900 (2011), Studying English Literature (2010), Translation Practices: Through Language to Culture (2009), and The Alternative A-Z of English Literature: All You Need to Know About 101 Great Authors (2008; 2013).

His essays on Ford's poetry can be found in various volumes in International Ford Madox Ford Studies.

He co-edits Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine:
