The author is extremely vague about the constituent elements of various schools of literary theory, at times seeming to contradict himself in the descriptions of them. This has the effect of causing confusion rather than clarification for the reader. Someone looking for a 'way in' to literary theory would probably find Wikipedia more helpful than this book.
Furthermore, the book has not been properly edited / formatted for Kindle: words are hyphenated in the middle of a line of text for no apparent reason. This suggests the hard copy was scanned in without further proofing. Very amateurish.
Furthermore, the written style is dry, and does nothing to convey a passion for the subject matter.
I am extremely disappointed to have wasted my money on this purchase.
