Neat little machine with smart cosmetics - the white finish looks good alongside our Acer Aspire Revo R3610 Desktop PC (Intel Atom 330, 1.6 GHz, 2048MB RAM, 250GB HD, LAN WLAN, Windows 7 Home Premium, Integrated Graphics Plus Wireless Keyboard and Mouse micro-desktop that is black and white - only £180 without Windows on it.
The Liteon worked OK with the supplied lead, but....
...the supplied USB lead was too short (4" of cable, a bit over 12cm in foreign money) to reach any USB socket on the REVO without laying the PC case flat on its side, which is not ideal. So we dug out a shortish (1M) USB cable and tried that. Not reliable, almost works, but hangs up when playing DVDs. Finally, the cable which came with our pocket USB HDD - about 10" long - was tried, and this works OK too. Cannot see a cable like that for sale on Amazon, but it you want to use this with more than just a netbook or laptop you may be needing one.
Other than that, a nice little drive; ours is stable on the table, plays CDs and DVDs, and records stuff OK. Recommended for Netbooks and Laptops, but be aware of the lead length issue for other uses.

I wanted this drive because I have both Region 1 and 2 DVDs. My Mac internal drive is set to region 2 (UK). Ordered the Liteon, it was delivered quickly, I plugged it in, put in a region 1 disc, and it played straight away no problem, no need to set regions. Perfect. Yes, the cable is very short, but not an issue for me. I have a MacBook running Mac OS X 10.6.8.

This is a great little external DVDRW. I bought it to go with a netbook and its top loading design makes it excellent for mobile applications. Really good value and it even looks great!
