The drive comes with, err, nothing. It's a bare drive. If you don't already have a SATA data cable and SATA power cable kicking around, add them to your order.
You'll also need mounting screws, but if you're replacing an existing PATA drive, there's your screw set.
It doesn't use an analogue audio cable to the motherboard, but lets be honest here, when did anyone last use one or need one?
Fairly quick, plays DVDs just fine with noticeably less CPU usage than the PATA unit this replaced. I'll admit I'm not sure how that works. The tray does feel a little flimsy, with sections cut out. If that keeps costs down with no detriment to the end user, I'm all for it; plus it uses less plastic. If you hoik on it, it'll surely break. Don't mis-treat it and I can't see it being an issue.
Data transfer speeds are the usual 10-15% lower than stated. I've yet to find a modern drive that matches the claims, but then, they are so damn fast these days it matters not. Using it to make CD-ROM/DVD ISO images, it seems to just churn away and get the job done, as it does when burning.
It doesn't make tea, can't cure obesity and it makes no claim regarding its ability to navigate through city traffic autonomously. What it does is read and write optical discs quite well at a good price.
