The cover of this CD shows Listening in performance at the Hatch Shell (The home of the Boston Pops)in the summer of 1968. I was lucky to be in the audience for their concert, and was blown away by their music. I immediately bought the album, and found a rather diverse mix of styles ... They use jazz, psychedic fuzz guitar, almost classical organ and piano solos, a "Jack Bruce" style bass line, and some fierce percussion ala Ginger Baker. I love this CD because it captures the era perfectly. My favorite tunes are "Stoned Is" and "Baby,Where Are You".However all the songs have hooks that grab you from the first listen. This is one of three must-have albums from the late 60's (The other two being "Orpheus" and "The United States of America") if you are into the psychedelic sounds of a bygone era. Try it, you'll like it!
