How absolutely delightful! How could I have missed this book and its talented author for such a long time. It was an absolute joy to read and I have not laughed so much in a long time. The style of writing is quite unique and very much appeals to my sense of humour. Needless to say, I am looking out for more publications by the same author. I know Jeremy Lloyd of course as the co-author of 'are you being served?' and 'allo 'allo, but this book is somthing else.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who is feeling down in the dumps, this will cheer you up - guaranteed! Shame I have come to the end of it - perhaps Mr. Lloyd would write a sequel covering the next twenty years. I would love to know what happend next.

Jeremy Lloyd has been one of my comedy heroes from way back in the 60's with his early British TV appearances, his appearances as the typical upper class Englishman on Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In as well as his priceless contributions to British TV sitcoms Are You Being Served and Allo Allo. He is sorely missed and the opportunity to get this used copy of his biography was too good to miss. The time is surely now right for republication of an updated biography.

I was rather disappointed by this book. The author, who has written many different types of work, unfortunately includes in his text some schoolboy howlers of errors, e.g., 'the most kindest of...' and confuses 'its' and 'it's', which I was surprised to find as I would expect an author of such experience to know about these basic facts of English grammar. Overlooking these glitches, however, his story is interesting and details his 'rise' from an unusual childhood to fame and fortune as a comedy writer and performer. The book is worth reading, especially if you enjoyed the author's television series 'Are you being served?' and ''Allo, 'Allo.'

excellent material 30 Mar. 2012

Jeremy Lloyd is one of the funniest men alive! He, along with the late David Croft, created Are You Being Served? and its sequel, Are You Being Served? Again! (Grace and Favour, in the UK), as well as 'Allo, 'Allo. His book is also very humorous, as you might expect.
Lloyd overcame a rather sad childhood and unsupportive parents to become a big success, both as a writer and as an actor.
Overall, I thought the book was very informative and very entertaining. The only drawback, which I found disappointing, was that he hardly said anything about the people in the series mentioned above. Perhaps he was restricted by copyright laws or other restrictions. But, I had hoped he would tell some behind-the-scenes information--nothing scandalous, but just fun-facts and funny incidents--about the cast members. Maybe in another book.
But, this book is a good read and very enjoyable. It is a must for Jeremy Lloyd fans--that is, if you're "free"!
If you know about him you will really like this book. 7 Dec. 2012

If you know the man you will find this a very funny book. He is just as funny as the TV shows that he wrote for. He lead a very interesting life. I envy him him a good way.
