Product Description

Gable Cooper has penned a novel worth six million dollars. But he doesn't exist. Abby Chandlis is lawyer-turned-novelist and the creator of Gable Cooper. She is looking for a charismatic man to pose as the author of her knock-dead thriller.

When Jack Jermaine enters her life, Abby is convinced that his charm and good looks will clinch success for her novel, so they make a deal. But as her book rockets to the top of the bestsellers list and Jack is propelled into stardom, Abby senses peril. A series of deadly accidents persuades her that her life is in danger and, with Jack in pursuit, she races to the one person who can put an end to the nightmare that was once her dream of making The List.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK if you like that sort of thing, 24 Dec 2001
By A Customer
Fast paced and full of action, this novel is a fairly exciting, if unremarkable, read. Most of the characters are vaguely plausible - among the hard-nosed, calculating business types, Abby comes across as human, vulnerable, though likeable enough. There are plenty of plot twists which keep the reader guessing for much of the story about who exactly is double crossing who, although this aspect of the story is not the most convincing - since all of the characters apart form Abby seem to know what is happening, why somebody couldn't explain it all to her from the outset is never made entirely clear. Nevertheless, this isn't a bad book to read if you find yourself with nothing better to do - great literature it certainly isn't, but for what it's worth, I'd recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really excellent read, 24 Mar 2004

This review is from: The List (Paperback)
In a genre which is filled by mediocre plots this book really stands out.
The story has pace and takes some unseen twists. I thoroughly recommend it.
I will definately be reading more books by this author in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've read this 4 times, 19 Dec 2001
By tummya@c4.com (Wirral, UK) - See all my reviews
This is completely different from his other work, of which I am not so fond. I also gave it to my mother and grandmother, who both loved it also. Fast paced and exciting and a real twist at the end. Read it!
