4.0 out of 5 stars Recommended, 13 April 2009

This review is from: Lisbon (Walk and Eat) (Paperback)
I am amazed by the negative comments about this book. I do not understand how anyone that are familiar with Sunflower's guides in general and their Walk & Eat guides specifically can mistake this for just a city guide. Anyway, the walks are easily accessible from the city centre by using the excellent public transport system as outlined in the book, and I spent four entire days in and out of Lisbon with this book as my guide during Easter 2009. The only reason I do not give it top marks is because for some of the walks some of the walk descriptions could have been a bit more clear.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great walks, 1 Mar 2011
This review is from: Lisbon (Walk and Eat) (Paperback)
This is not a city guide, but it doesn't pretend to be - it's a walking guide with Lisbon as a base. Perhaps "Lisbon Area" or "Lisbon and Around" would be a more accurate title, but given that you can search inside the book and see the contents list before buying it, I really don't think there's a problem there.

I really enjoyed using the book and doing the walks. Non-specialist guidebooks e.g. Lonely Planet / Rough Guide don't give details of any walking routes outside the city, so a book like this is great if you want to do a long walk but don't want to have to "make it up" and risk getting totally lost or hitting a dead end in the middle of nowhere.

Personally, I thought it was great and if I go anywhere else covered by the series, I'll get another one for there too.

It's worth checking the updates section on the publisher's website to use alongside the book - I didn't and found some things had changed / caved in, requiring detours, which I could have found out about in advance!

1.0 out of 5 stars A very deceptive title, 17 Feb 2006
By A Customer
This review is from: Lisbon (Walk and Eat) (Paperback)
Anyone wanting a guide to walks and restaurants in Lisbon should be warned - this has one walk and one restaurant in Lisbon only. All the rest involve taking trains or a car out of the city. They are no doubt fine if you are staying for a long period, but for anyone on a short break, or who wants to explore the city in depth, this is a very disappointing book indeed. I am normaly a great fan of Sunflower books: this time I felt I had been conned
