Product Description

Product Description

Ideal for business and leisure, the Lisbon CityPack is succinct with all the practical information you need. The guide has been completely revamped with new content design and layout. There are four main sections: Essential..., By Area, Where to Stay and Need to Know. Lisbon has been broken up into colour-coded districts, with the colour-coding cross-referenced throughout each section. Essential...starts with the Top 25 sights plus a locator map, then essential information to get the most of a short break in the city. By Area takes you through the sights of the city, district by district, with local shopping, entertainment and restaurant listings. Where to Stay picks the best hotels to suit your budget, with web addresses listed where available. Need to Know contains all the basics for a smooth-running trip. Each district within the city has a two-page, colour-coded locator map with sights listed.

I currently live in Lisbon so I use this guide quite.
Most importantly for a travel guide, it contains no factual innacuracies (or none that I've found yet).
It contains all the information you might possibly need, from transport to places, costs, opening times, maps, and a brief historical/contextual information. It's all presented really well, in a way that is easy to read and browse. You can easily find what you want in 30 seconds, or spend longer reading up on something if you wish.
The pictures are great, the pull out map is excellent and waterproof (Lisbon can be very wet from November to February), and I couldn't possibly ask for anything more from a city guide.

Great little book 11 July 2011
By L. Dunn
Already have AA guides for previous City breaks. They always list the top 25 places to visit and the colour coded areas are great as you can see exactly what is available in each district. Lisbon is a great City to visit, lots to see and do and transport system is very frequent and not expensive. Would recommend these books for any short breaks.

I have found some citypack guides most useful and like the plastcised map. The sections are helpfully set out. The massive downside is that the timings and general information on the different historic sites are often wildly inaccurate. The restaurant section might as well be ignored. There is no mention of the handy travel card which costs 50 cents and can be purchased at all metro stations for as little as a 24 hour period and topped after thereafter. This card gives unlimited use of the trains, trams, metro, lifts and funiculars which given the gradient of some of the hills is a real bonus. The Lisbon tourist office in the centre will save you wasting your money on this guide.
