I agree with the the other review - Lisa's voice is so clear and pure that this album is wonderful for learning Swedish (which I am doing) and once you understand the words (the lyrics are searchable on the internet, by the way) their poignancy may well bring tears to your eyes. ("Poignant" is undoubtedly the key word for this album.)
Each track brings something different. The emotional register of the tunes and lyrics generally match perfectly ("Du Sålde Våra Hjärtan", which translates as "You Sold Our Hearts", and "I Tveksamhetens Tid", which translates as "In the Time of Hesitation", being good examples) but when they don't the effect is, strangely, even more powerful. In "Sanningen I Vitögat" (which could colloquially be translated as "Staring Truth in the Face") the jaunty and upbeat melody contrasts with the sadness of the protagonist's life: she is living a lie, and one day when she does encounter the truth it is so grotesque and bitter that she has to forget it immediately. She rushes homes into the arms of the lie.
Tracks 1. "Öppna Upp Ditt Fönster", 2. "Benen i Kors" and 8. "Vem Vet" are joyful celebrations of love, in which the beauty of the Swedish language is showcased. Listen, respectively, for example, for the phrases, 1. "Ropa ner i gränden" ("Call down in the alley"), 2. "Det är enkelt att förstå, jag vill bara sitta här med benen i kors, och varför vill jag det? Det är inte svårt att se, för att du sitter bredvid förstås" ("It's easy to understand, I just want to sit here with my legs crossed, and why do I want to do this? It's not difficult to see, it's because you are sitting right next to me, of course.)" and 8. "Du är en saga för god för att vara sann. Det är en saga i sig att vi funnit varann. Vi kunde lika gärna aldrig någonsin mötts, eller var vårt möte redan bestämt långt innan vi fötts?" ("You are a story too good to be true. It's a story in itself that we found each other. We could just as easily never ever have met, or was our meeting already destined long before we were born?)
I could say something about every track in this gem of an album, but let me content myself with just one more comment. "Flyg Vilda Fågel" ("Fly Wild Bird") is distilled wistfulness. The protagonist years for wings so that she can fly away and disappear and see her problems in perspective from the clouds. Heart-rending.
