More About the Author

Lois Lavrisa writes Mystery with a Twist. Her first mystery, LIQUID LIES, is set in an affluent lake town in Wisconsin, and asks the question "Would you tell the truth, even if it meant losing everything?" In LIQUID LIES, the main character Cecilia "CiCi" Coe has to answer that question, before anyone else is killed. To quote part of a review for LIQUID LIES, "A dark secret held for years by two friends comes back to haunt them with murderous results. Tension builds throughout this taut mystery right up until the action packed climax. Lois Lavrisa will keep you guessing until the end. I highly recommend this book. Do not miss LIQUID LIES." The Edit Dude.

Lois is now working on her cozy mystery series, THE CHUBBY CHICKS CLUB about sassy southern sleuths, set in Savannah, Georgia. The characters are not all chubby nor are they all chicks. THE CHUBBY CHICKS CLUB are a rag tag group of friends who find themselves investigating a friend's mysterious death, with time running out for them to find the killer before the killer finds them. THE CHUBBY CHICKS CLUB, book one, should be completed by Fall 2012.

She's been married to her aerospace husband Tom for over 21 years and they have four children- two boys and two girls. 5.0 out of 5 stars Tense, Exciting Mystery 17 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a thrilling fast-paced mystery that whisks you through a whole range of emotions as you read. Told through the point of view of the main character CiCi, we see her life unfold and an old secret come back to haunt her. With a wonderful cast of secondary characters this is a well written engrossing read that kept me in suspense right up to the end. Loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A no-brainer to rate...5 stars! 22 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Liquid Lies is one of those books that when you start it, it's hard to put down. Secrets can be destructive which CiCi gets to know very well. I liked that the book was written in the first person because it made me feel like I was as much involved as the character. Well-written, fast-paced, suspenseful, in fact everything one could ask in a mystery, this was a no-brainer to rate...5 stars!

3.0 out of 5 stars Review Of Liquid Lies 22 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I received this book free from Sunlake Press with the intent to read and review it. I was looking forward to reading it as its the type of book I normally like, however I was a tad disappointed. It kicks of with a good start, introducing us to Cecilia and Francesca, best friends out for a birthday. CiCi as Cecilia prefers to be called just can't say no to her friend, Francesca, which really is the main fault with her. After a flat-tyre and a run-in with a trucker, they end up making a pact and then not speaking to each other for four years.

The story skips over these four years and starts when Francesca re-enters CiCi's life. Again she is unable to say no to her and this leads to more complications, a murder, a blackmailer and just to cap it off, another murder. All these things could have been avoided if CiCi had been able to say no to her friend. Instead she finds herself with a police officer who thinks she's the killer, a fiance who decides to break things off and a new guy who could be either the killer, the blackmailer or both. Oh and she's finds herself falling for him. The middle part of this story is a little slow and boggy, it takes its time to get going and then just when you think it's not going to take off, it does just that. You get dragged to the end of the story, where we find out just who has done what and why, then to top it off with a bit of sugar, we get a happy ending.

I would recommend this to anyone who is just wanting to dip their toe into a crime/thriller that's a light and easy read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Liquid Lies - without a doubt 5 star material 28 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The plot thickens and the writing style is not only readable but fantastic quality in comparison to some of its rival competitor novels. The ever developing mystery and the constant barrage of twists and turns coupled with the sinister element throughout this novel really does take the reader hold and delivers an almighty climatic finish.
As for the comment that it is too far-fetched towards the end... That is feasible but my opinion is that it is no more a stretch than contemporary writers that have sold fantastic books, such as `The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'.

Five star work, will be recommending.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommend 28 Oct 2012

I love a good mystery and this one really hit the spot. It's well written with a great amount of detail. The story builds throughout and finishes on an action packed climax.. So much so I could not put it down till I finished reading the whole book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It! 28 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Written in first person, we go through this fast paced mystery with our heroine CiCi, a 22 year old who shares a deadly secret with her former best high school friend. What happened to them one night while they were out celebrating their high school graduation and 18th birthday will forever haunt them.

LIQUID LIES is a mystery that will keep you at the edge of your seat, guessing who done it until the very high stakes suspenseful ending. A terrific debut novel which I fully and whole heartedly recommend.

This book is none of the above. It's rather silly and feels as if it were written by a child for a school project. I battled on to the end just to see if would perk up. Read more
