Beautiful: One Of Her Best,
By croppedSteve "miloplanetearth" (North East England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lionheart (Audio CD)
I first bought this album on vinyl in the '80's and I've always thought that it was one of her best. It's hard to believe that it was ever recorded in a hurry as it sounds so well crafted, and I had no idea that Kate now supposedly dislikes 'Oh England, My Lionheart', which is one of my favourite Kate Bush tracks. I've bought this again on CD since and it's still great: full of atmospheric, intelligent, thought-provoking, emotional and beautiful songs. Kate is a multi-talented performer, both musically and visually, and something of a genius. Her music brings back wonderful memories and it's a shame that we don't hear more from her. EMI could put out a compilation of B sides/extra tracks which so far have only been available in the 'This Woman's Work' box set. It would also be nice to see stuff like 'The Whole Story' video re-released onto DVD. Well, in the meantime, there's still Kate's older material to listen to and fall in love with, as the fantastic Lioheart proves. Enjoy.

Camp humour + Teenage Romanticism x English charm = Lionheart,
By Conran Tickle (Cheshire, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lionheart (Audio CD)
This is one of my favourite Kate Bush albums, better than The Kick Inside, save for a few songs., and full of early Kate's charm. The tracks are all wonderful, and despite it not being as deep as some of Kate's later work, is still very good. This is a perfect album to listen to on a rainy day.

Kate's 2nd album shouldn't be underated,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lionheart (Audio CD)
It has been said of Lionheart, Kate's follow up to The Kick Inside that it was a retrograde step in her career, too like the first album. I think that the similarity is one of it's strengths, it continues the themes of The Kick Inside while exploring the darker side of the human experience. The orchestration is beautifuly executed and Kate's voice has never sounded lovelier. The material does seem to thin toward the close except for the theatrical Hammer Horror but an album that contains songs of the quality of Wow, Symphony in Blue and In Search of Peter Pan still deserves a place in the heart of any lover of Kate's Music.
