Great bit of kit 16 July 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase
Amazing value for money. The screen quality is excellent, and the product has an amazing range of features. It can show photos, play MP3, and DivX avi movies. It has builtin speakers, a Lithium battery and outputs to headphones/hifi and composite for the TV. All cables, power supply and a good manual are provided. The movie quality is excellent and could be used to watch a movie on the go.

The photos from a distance appear crisp and colourful - on close inspection the pixelation is noticeable, but used as a photoframe viewed from a small distance away this is not noticeable. Note that the 8" version has 2x the resolution.

The speakers are very tinny, but output to headphones is of good quality.

I recently bought an Archos, which is great, but for the money this photoframe is much better value. It only got 4 stars as I think the 8" version is even better and probably worth the extra cost because it has 2x the resolution.

Slideshow Qualities 22 Nov 2007
This is an excellent product I am sure out there there are better models
but this one would fit most peoples needs
Had initial problem showing slideshow with background music

loaded four music files and a number of photos on an sd card
chose first music file but then could not load photo to play slideshow with music

Then chose second music file and every thing was ok

The first music file was not a true mp3 file

beware only use mp3 music files

Video files play excellent

I bought this item as I'd been specifically looking for a photo frame that used batteries/was rechargeable. There seems to be very few on the market, so when I found this one at such a reasonable price I thought it was worth the go.

The result however is not that inspiring. The picture quality is very disappointing even for the size (which is actually only 61/4" not 7") - the resolution is far too low for the size such that all pictures appear very pixellated. The menu navigation is not intuitive and the selection buttons on the top of the frame don't help. Also, the frame doesn't automatically start a slideshow when switched on - you have to select the storage media (SD card or USB stick) and then select the folder or files. There is also no transition selection - just the default (which quite annoyingly involves going from the previous photo to a blank screen and then wiping down the next photo).

On the positive side, it is battery powered, so very portable. It looks, well, funky. My daughter likes the interchangeable frames, but I think that reflects the limit to their appeal.

Overall, the frame is quite a let-down. The benefits, portability & price, are in now way outweighed by the disappointing picture quality & poor usability. The frame is now destined for my 7-yr old daughter's bedroom where it will be more at home.

I have since bought the 8" version (only actually 71/4") which is nearly double the resolution and a significant improvement and worth the money if you need portable (although the manufacturers clearly know this as it is significantly more expensive).
