By Mr. Richard Pearn TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have really got into Linux recently and this book has everything you need to get it downloaded, up and running and take advantage of the various software for Linux. My only problem is that it is a big book withy many pages and the layout is not that logical, you have to dig alot to find what you want. I have never been a fan of the dummies layouts and feel that most books in the series are very American in their approach. It's easy to work around this but it can be hard work sometimes. However, in its defence all you ever want to know is there with examples and tips. Maybe try a smaller inro book first before buying this one though but I have found it very useful overall. I think the book tries to do too much in one volume and the long winded explainations can be tedious but stick with it and it will get you there,

Good overall summary 10 Oct 2008
Format:Paperback
I bought an Acer Aspire One and wanted a Linux book that was fairly agnostic in terms of the version of Linux and that didn't descend into a list of man commands.

This one fits the bill just fine. Check the Table of Contents (no point in me listing it all!)...
