I am a computer professional, and when I wanted to upgrade my home network, I thought that paying the extra for Cisco/Linksys would give me a high quality product. Unfortunately I was sadly let down.
Alarm bells should have been ringing when I saw that the router firmware version was "1.0.00", with no upgrades available.
Configuring the router and connecting to my BT DSL line was simple and worked well.
The fundamental problem with the router is that it constantly crashes and reboots. As I configured more elements of my network, and connected more WiFi devices to it, the crashes and reboots became more and more frequent, until it was crashing every couple of minutes, It takes about a minute or so to recover from a crash.
I struggled on, thinking that once all of network was configured, it may stabilise. However, it wouldn't maintain a simple audio stream from the internet to one of my internet radio devices for more than a few minutes without a crash and reboot.
I am shocked that Linksys allowed this product to be released in this state.
It is being returned to Amazon, and I will search for a more robust DSL router.

Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
I've only been using this router for a few days now but so far I have no complaints and my review is based on my experience so far. It did seem to take a while to set up compared to previous routers but I think that is because of the Cisco Connect interface that it adds to the computer. This is new to me as previously I have accessed the router settings via a browser page and I have to say that I prefer this method. It also allowed me to create an "Easykey Setup" on a flash drive to connect other devices to the network (or you can of course use the manual option for doing this so you don't have to use the Easykey Setup). Cisco Connect is very easy to use and quite useful too and has features like allowing guest access to your internet connection. This can be switched on or off for up to five guests. I did miss the green and red lights of my old router initially as this one only has white (blue on startup) but it's a small detail and I'm used to it now. The really good thing is that now my broadband is about 1MB faster than it was previously just by switching to this router. :)

quality kit 27 Jan 2012
By Jay Arr
Did a lot of research and spec comparisons before buying this modem router. I discovered that there are several 'flavours' of ADSL and consequently checked my broadband supplier BT. This high spec modem supports them all. Importantly for me it (eventually) works with my MAC's OSX 10.7. However be warned the setup software refused run despite the onscreen instructions confusingly stating it supported OSX 10.6 and later versions?! A visit to the Linksys website & a download later (lesson: don't throw your old modem away!) and it self-installed. The web browser interface has an extensive range of features and looks very much like the one I used on my other Linksys router. I selected this model because of its speed (it has a Gigabit ethernet) and wireless range after two days it appears to be working well and living up to my expectations.
