Product Description

Product Description

Frequency band is selectable to prevent wireless overload.

Make your desktop PC wireless with the Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N PCI-Adapter with Dual-Band. Insert into available slot and you have access to the fantastic High Speed wireless network right away without laying annoying cables.

The Wireless PCI-Adapter comes with Wireless-N (Draft 802.11n), latest wireless network technology. The used MIMO technology (multiple inputs / multiple outputs) overlaps the signals of various radios per frequency band and multiplies the effected data rate. In contrast to the usual wireless network technologies in which the signal reflections can be disturbing, MIMO technology uses these reflections to extend the range and reduce dead spots in the wireless reception area. The stabile signal has a wider range, so that in wireless connections, much longer distances can be maintained than with standard Wireless G systems.

With Wireless-N increasing distance the speed advantage becomes greater. This works hassle-free with Wireless-G , Wireless-A and Wireless-B devices. If both ends of the wireless connection feature Wireless N technology, the transfer rate can be increased noticeably above Wireless G, as twice as much bandwidth is used.

With 2.4 GHz and 5GHz frequency band transmission in Dual Band Wireless networks happens simultaneously The available bandwidth is thereby effectively doubled. You can set up your network for example so that one frequency band is for video streaming while the other frequency is used for data transfer. This way, disturbances or coalitions during video playback can be prevented. The Wireless-N PCI adapter with Dual-Band enables the use of the frequency band suited best.

To protect your data, the wireless connection is coded with the standard WPA2 encryption. The set-up assistance leads you through the configuration of the adapter step by step to set up your network.

Highspeed-Wireless-N is perfectly suited for media-intense applications like video streaming , games and VoIP calling. It offers sufficient bandwidth to execute many media intense data transmissions at once, yet the performance stays constant. Connect your computer via Wireless-N, Wireless-G, Wireless-A and Wireless B networks with the Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N PCI-Adapter with Dual- Band by Linksys.

Functions

  • Performance-strong Dual-Band Wireless-N network (Draft 802.11n) for your desktop PC
  • Encryption with up to 128 Bit
  • MIMO technology creates a reliable signal thanks to various radio devices, transmitted farther and reducing dead spots.
  • User-friendly set-up assistant
  • Investment protection: compatible with wireless networks of the standards Wireless-A (802.11a), Wireless-B (802.11b) and Wireless-G (802.11g)
  • Compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Vista 64-Bit

The Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N PCI Adapter with Dual-Band adds wireless connectivity to your desktop computer. Install it into an available slot in your computer, and enjoy great high-speed wireless network access without running wires. The Wireless-N PCI Adapter uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios for each band, Wireless-N’s “Multiple In, Multiple Out” (MIMO) technology is designed to multiply the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce “dead spots” in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G. With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G, -A, and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the throughput can be increased far beyond standard Wireless-G by using twice as much radio band. Dual-band wireless networks are designed to operate in both the 2.4 and 5 gigahertz radio bands at the same time, effectively doubling the available wireless bandwidth. For instance, you could set up your network to handle video streaming on one radio band, and use the other band for simultaneous data transfers -- avoiding any interference or collisions that would degrade the video performance. The Wireless-N PCI Adapter with Dual-Band allows you to connect using whichever band works the best for your situation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great wireless adapter for Windows 7 20 July 2010
My main reason for purchasing this was because I had upgraded my computer from a Windows XP Pro operating system to Windows 7 x64 Pro. The previous adapter I had no longer worked and I needed a replacement quick. I did a bit of research to find a Windows 7 compatible wireless adapter and found that Cisco offered the best range at the time.

This product was easy to install and was indeed compatible with Windows 7 x64. I've not had a problem with it; this adapter offers quick connectivity and fast download speeds with our wireless broadband. In comparison to my old adapter, my download speeds have increased quite significantly.

You won't be disappointed with this product; I can guarantee it will work with Windows 7.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible under Win7 64bit 10 Feb 2012
By Joobles
I bought this card based on the user recommendations here on Amazon but I have to say that I am very disappointed. The first card I received was totally dead, so I returned it and was given a new one. This new one installed automatically with no problems in Windows 7 64bit, was detected by windows. Or so I thought. But actually the adapter was permanently disabled and could not be enabled. The linksys cd software was next to useless as well as it was unable to detect that the adapter was correctly installed on the motherboard, claiming it was not properly connected, despite it being detected and correctly installed by windows.

I finally got the adapter to work and talk to my router, in windows (I never got the linksys software to even install as it cannot detect the adapter being installed and will not therefore progress with installation) by disabling everything in the advanced properties of the adapter except for the essentials, but I'm not very happy with its performance- It is causing a problem with my usb mouse, which freezes and stutters when the internet connection is active. My usb keyboard is also having issues (typing this review has been a nightmare as sometimes letters which have been typed are not detected resulting in missing letters in words) Plus, I don't see why I should have to disable the newer networking protocols for an adapter which I just bought. Whe the cnnection works it is much slower than the previous (usb!) adapter I had and and it drops the connection frequntly. The drivers are clearly extremely poor. In fact in order to post this review I had to go and get a wireless gaming adapter in order to remain connected to the internet long enough.

Googling around reveals a number of users have experienced a myriad of problems with this adapter, particularly under Windows 7. Avoid this adapter at all costs. Mine is going straight back to Amazon. It's not fit for purpose.

tl;dr Horrible under windows 7 64bit causing all kinds of problems. Dropped connection repeatedly during course of review, screws with usb connected peripherals. Can't recommend at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works through solid concrete walls! 3 Jun 2011
I have two solid concrete walls which no wireless Internet seemed to penetrate. Used in conjunction with the Cisco E4200 it worked better than planned. I can stream HD video without any loss, so worth every penny.
