5.0 out of 5 stars It is compatible with Windows 7.... 19 Jan 2010
I've seen a few reviews on here giving this product a low star rating because of its claimed incompatibility with Windows 7, yet Linksys do claim it is on their website. I have it working fine on Windows 7 64-bit.

Firstly, you ditch the CD. Then plug it into a USB socket, either directly or using the extension/stand. Windows will no doubt tell you that device installation has been unsuccessful - this is what we want as it shows they are connected correctly.

Hit Start and start to type "Device Manager", open said Device Manager and Navigate to Network adapters. You should see "Linksys WUSB600N v2" with a yellow mark next to it. Right click it and go to Update Driver Software, and download the Vista (32 or 64bit) drivers from the Linksys website under the support section - yes I do mean the Vista drivers.

Once you have downloaded the folder, you will have three folders within that, Mac OS X, Vista32 and 64, keep the one relevant to your operation system, (right clicking Computer is a quick way to access the relevant system information) and extract this folder.

Go back to the Device Manager section and select "Navigate my computer for driver software", navigate to the folder you just downloaded for whatever OS you have and select it. With any luck you will be up and running shortly afterwards.

I can confirm that the Vista drivers do work excellently with Windows 7, and that I was connected with a WRT160N at 270Mbps 2 minutes after plugging the adaptor in.

Signal strength is fine, and the blue flashing LED is cool. In summary - it IS Windows 7 compatible, just with a bit of playing around. Good luck folks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Linksys WUSB600N 29 Jun 2009
Verified Purchase
Linksys Wireless-N USB Adapter
This superb wireless adapter was very easy to set up and is certainly very powerful. We live in an old house with very thick walls and the adapter connected easily on the third floor with our BT hub on the ground floor. It is also sufficiently powerful to connect from the other side of our garden with the hub in the hallway. I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Pickup And No Complaints! 16 Aug 2009
By Michael Scott VINE VOICE
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
When writing a review I always try and look for the negatives as well as the positives but this little wireless adapter is perfect!

I had a B/G card in my Dell laptop so wanted this for N coverage on my new broadband router.

I installed it in under 2 minutes and the pickup is fantastic! I used to see 2 networks with my inbuilt laptop but this picks up 7 networks!

And when connected on N it is hyper fast and very stable.

All in all this is a quality product, good software, amazing coverage and doesn't seem to be too bad on battery life.

Not cheap but then again Cisco is the world's best network kit!

A recommended purchase!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good 21 July 2009
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Simple to use to be honest. Just install the software that comes on the CD and then plug it in and your ready to go. All in under about 5minutes.
It works well with XP and vista machines.
The network (as in videos, audio etc stored on other computers) are pretty quick to play, and i can finally stream high quality video from one N band computer to another!

It also works well with G networks, such as the one i have at home, and has a good range (works well from the garden or loft).

This worked very well with my WRT160N router, which i highly recommend for those who want in on the N band but are on a bugdet! otherwise the WRT610N is just awesome with its USB socket (provided that you dont need a modem!).

Note i didnt have any problems with plugging in this usb stick into USB sockets at the back of desktops, as unlike my previous Netgear USB adapter it isnt shaped werid.

Highly recommend if you have or want N band. Otherwise there are cheaper options if you just want G or B etc.
Will update with a long term review :)

4.0 out of 5 stars WUSB600N - An amazing adapter 4 July 2009
Linksys by Cisco WUSB600N Wireless-N USB Network Adapter with Dual-Band

I brought this adapter for the 5ghz band as the 2.4 ghz band extreemly crowded in my area. Very simple to set up and easy to use. It matched up with my D-Link Dir 825 flawlessly and has vastly improved my wireless network speed. I'd recommend this for anyone who wants to upgrade their network to 5ghz.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent adapter! Quick and easy to install. 30 July 2009
Bought this about a month ago as a backup network connection for my home server whilst reloacting and recabling the internal network; Excellent product, installed seamlessly on my Windows Home Server 2008 operating system, the machine detected the hardware and installed drivers from the CD without any prompts! Also didn't have to install any additional rubbish Wifi software utilities. 2.4GHz abnd 5GHz both function straight out the box (one at a time naturally!) Also worth noting is that i experience minimal/no interference from my 5.4GHz AV-Sender located right next to this machine which was a huge concern for me.
Highly recommended for fast networking, and for reference i am using this device with a D-Link DIR-825 Dualband Gigabit router.

Note: Save money and buy a cheaper adapter if you don't have a 5GHz router! Standard 300Mbps (or slower if your router doesn't support this) USB adapters are available for a fraction of the cost.

Yes, it does work with Raspberry Pi unlike the Nano unit from Dynamode which does not. I have always found these Cisco dongles to be really good unlike some of their modern routers
