5.0 out of 5 stars Fab! 29 Jun 2011

Thought changing/moving offices might be complicated (for someone who knows something, but is no means even close to knowing enough about networking) as needed to purchase a router, but not with the E3000.

After using a shared line (and a switch), we now had a dedicated line and had to connect PC, printer (both not Wi-Fi), couple visiting laptops, a smart phone, etc...

I needn't have stressed/worried about it as it was all so simple, straight-forward and easy-piecy with this product!

Just inserted the disc that came with the router (and 1 network cable) and it told you everything very clearly.

Couldn't be happier! :)

Being an IT Ludite I checked with my IT consultant on a visit home from Uni and my borther-in-law who recommended this and it is a huge improvement of it predecessor.
Simple fool proof instrutions, I used them!
Has never drooped out of servioe since commisioned.
Smaller and runs cooler than previous unit.
Good piece of kit.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good when setup manually 8 Feb 2012

I purchased this router so that I could use the faster 5hz frequency and saw the guest WiFi and NAS features as a bonus.

Not everything went to plan:

1. The setup software does not run on Windows 7 x64, if you don't know what you are doing then this will be a major problem but for me it is just a bit inconvenient
2. When setup through the browser there is no way to setup the guest network
3. Using the NAS feature with a 1TB drive crashes the box under load. I have now moved the drive to an old laptop which does the job without crashing the network

but now the good things:

1. The 5Ghz frequency is indeed much faster
2. The GigaBit network speeds up network backups (as long as I don't use the router as the NAS)considerably as most domestic routers are only 100Mb
3. It works consistantly with my range extender which used to drop out quite often when connected to my old Dlink box

In summary then, a good network and wifi router but don't rely on the extra features.

3.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't have a modem 30 Jan 2012
I'm sure this is a very good router but i didn't read the product info properly and found out once it was delivered that it only for cable internet, not for phone line (DSL) internet. because of this i cant really rate it properly but amazon took it back free of charge with no hesitation so I was very happy in the end.

If you have phone line internet then don't buy this, modems are very hard to find and set up so it's worth buying a router that's all in one.

If you have cable internet (virgin broardband) then this (from all the many reviews I read) seems like a very good choice, you can even plug your external hard drive into it to access it securely from anywhere in the world.
