We've had the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54GL at home for several years. My sons box had a US Robotics wireless pci card that never sat dutifully in the slot, and the aerial eventually became detached from the back anyway, so I thought it was time to upgrade... As I'm no real expert with wireless and networks, I was concerned that a new usb wirelessN device would be bound to have some incompatibility issues with my son's box, xp-sp3, the router or our old motherboard, but to my delight the installation was quick, easy and painless with no obscure issues standing between my son and immediate, unbridled use of said internet connection. Fine with no complaints.

Purchased this Adapter to pair with a Cisco-Linksys Maximum Performance E4200 Dual-Band N Router I'd upgraded to recently, with the hope of getting the connection maximum speed.
So far, I've had no issues with the Adapter unlike other reviewers. It's worked fine with my Laptop on resume from stand-by, sleep, power-off, and has even handled that windows bug bear, switching USB ports.
The only real wrinkle has been that I had to give the 5GHz network on the E4200 a different name so that Adapter would choose it to connect to - the router default is to give both bands the same SSID, and as a result it would initially only connect to the 2.4Ghz band with a speed of 144Mbps...the same speed as the N adapter it was replacing. Once I'd changed the SSID of the 5GHZ network and set it as the highest priority connection the Adapter has consistently connected at 300Mbps anywhere within the house.
Very pleased the pairing, and currently trying to decide whether to buy a couple more to upgrade a couple of other connections instead of splashing out on it's newer more expensive brothers.
Only minor complaint - it's a little large when used as a laptop adapter and needs to be unplugged to fit safely my laptop case.

I bought this adapter to go with a Linksys E2500 router I had just purchased to replace an old wired one. After setting up the router I followed the instructions and placed it in to my x64 Windows 7 PC and the whole thing was installed and configured in around 5 minutes or so. Great I thought until I rebooted my PC. The adapter did not re-connect and I had to pull it from the USB socket and plug it back in. It also did this whenever the PC went to sleep and I woke it up. I then thought I would try it on my Linux HTPC box and the same thing happened.
After trying all sorts of configurations I plugged it into a USB socket on a hub not being shared by anything else, and it worked again - until I powered the PC down for longer than 5 minutes and it wouldn't re-connect. After searching on the web for answers, and turning up page after page of problems with this adapter, I decided to get a full refund for it and to go back to the more reliable powerline kit I have been using for the past 2-3 years.
The extra star is for the quick and easy set-up and, when it did work and connect, the decent speed it gave (144 Mbps but nowhere near the possible 300 Mbps it advertises). Overall very disappointing and I would've expected better quality from Linksys/Cisco.

Dongle did not work
