Admittedly the DP-1100 is a very stylish machine. Beautifully made, compact and elegant. That is the end of the compliments unfortunately.

I owned and used one for 3 months and the bottom line is that this player simply does not cut the mustard in the modern DivX/XViD market.

It is prone to hangs, freezes & resets at the best of times. It cannot play qpel or GMC encoded files of which there are a lot around currently. It struggles through "busy" scenes - presumably as the chipset can't handle the bitrate. Overall its simply a well made and beautiful ornament.

I ditched the DP-1100 in favour of a Peekton PK6006 which is approx half the price and plays simply everything I've thrown at it. It has a more powerful chipset to boot which is probably the reason.

My advice to anyone considering the KISS would be simply to avoid it unless your XViD/DiVX requirements are very simple and/or you value form over function.
