I've heard it, I love it, I am utterly blown away!
Damn the doubters snarling envious and bitter comment, wounded by astounding evidence, huddled together in astonishing wilful ignorance, this band is surely the finest in the world.
Without a doubt their best album since Achtung Baby, it is an utter masterpiece, dripping joy and pain, the search for meaning and belonging, the intense hurt and hope of the human heart.
No other band could even venture into this dangerous territory with the boldness and fragililty of U2, yet rarely even for them, here so achingly beautiful, soaring and ecstatic, honest and heartbreaking, gutteral, raw, and majestic.
It grows with every listen, and no doubt will bind itself to my DNA like so much of U2's work such as One, With or Without You, Kite, Please, Bad, and Where the Streets Have No Name.
Even after just 24 hours listening to this album, I confidently add Unknown Caller, Moment of Surrender, Breathe, and Magnificent to this list of songs that set me alight, and mean so much.
I simply can't wait to see them live again this year.
Devastatingly good, this is a truly awesome and brilliantly crafted collection of songs!
