I initially bought the cheaper optical switch by cable mountain. Although it had the same design as other switches that received bad reviews, this one had really good reviews. But upon getting it, I noticed that it wasn't working with my PS3. Sent that back and got this as a replacement.

I'm so glad I got this switch. I know it's got a fairly high price, but it's worth it. The sound quality has not diminished and I am able to connect both my PS3 and computer to my speaker system with the option to add more devices in the future.

The actual product has a slight flaw in design because the optical output port is located on the front of the device. And the LED lights showing which input is being used are overly bright, I have stuck white postage labels over them to block most of the light.

An added welcome on this product is that it comes with a remote control so you can change the input and turn the switch on and off without having to get up. (Not shown in the product description for some reason)

Well worth the money if looking for an optical/toslink switch.

I was looking for a simple, easy to use device to connect various devices to my surround sound system. This little white box does the trick. However (yes there's always one of those! Several in my case)

1. It's white. Needs to be black in my opinion to co-ordinate with home audio/visual devices that are all predominantly black.
2. The blue LEDs ! They are soooo very bright and distracting and need to be re-thought.
3. The optical out is next to the IR receiver. Not good design as this part of the device needs to be visible to the remote and it spoils the look,
4. Sync, Since using this device I have noticed loss of sync to the TV resulting in the dialog sound not matching up to the TV action. Tried adjusting the sync settings on my devices but to no avail.

As I have been search for such a device for so long, I will put up with the niggles I raise above.

I bought this so I could connect all my gear to my sonos system without having to keep replacing the relevant optical cable's, after looking at a few I decided on this one (don't even bother with the mechanical one's) . After receiving it and hooking it up, I have to say I'm impressed.

I've now got my TV, computer, ps3 and ps4 hooked up to my sonos system and at a blip on the remote can switch effortlessly from one to the other. I now get the best out of my sonos. Just waiting for them to implement Dts..

Brought it, thought it was great until a week or so after, when I realised the sync with the sound was out and made it annoying to watch even the news with there lips talking and then hearing their words with a delay later.

Not sure if there is away to change it?

Would of scored 4 stars easy without this issue. Could of been 5 stars in fact, if it was a bit more cheaper.

Excellent switch, I accidentally bought the splitter variant of this before which Lindy kindly exchanged for this.

Sound is crystal clear coming from an Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and Sky Box to a logitech z-5500 5.1 System.

Lights are quite bright blue but I actually quite like that, it's also not too large and is very well built as it should be for the price.

Having 3 devices that transmit surround signals via optical cable, but only one 'optical in' on my surround processor, I was stuck forever unplugging one device to use another - until I bought this Lindy switch. Now all 3 devices can remain securely connected to it, and via one optical cable are connected to the amp. The remote is great, and saves any fiddling about in the hi-fi stand.

My one quibble - move the remote sensor to one of the sides or on the top, rather than on the same side as the optical out lead!

If you need a optical TOSLINK switch, listen to most reviewers and avoid those passive mechanical switches. They just don't work, especially when you throw high bit-rate audio at it. My sound system is a FLAC 96/24 transport connected to the Zeppelin Air. The passive switch was very unreliable when sending 96/24 uncompressed linear PCM through it. I eventually gave up and purchased this active switch instead. This solved my problem like magic.

The item is neat but has not been well designed
The infrared sensor defines which is the front
The 4 inputs connect to the back - good!
However the output port is at the front next to the ir sensor
which means that the output cable (very inflexible as fibre optics are)
is obtrusive & exposed to potential damage
