Lindie Naughton was born in London, the first child of a Scottish mother and an Irish father.
Always intent on becoming a journalist and writer, Lindie studied philosophy and English at UCD. There she joined the college athletics club.
She had her first articles printed in the Sunday Independent and a long career in journalism has followed.
Her first book, Let's Run, was published in 1984 and was followed by Irish Olympians 1896-1992, written in collaboration with Johnny Watterson. Around this period, she started coaching athletics, which she does to this day. A revised version of this book was published in 2008.
In 2004, Lady Icarus, her biography of Irish aviator Lady Mary Heath was published. Two years earlier had come a beginner's guide to gardening called How to Mow the Lawn, now available on Kindle.
