I read the last review of this monitor on here but still decided to buy it as it seemed to me like the one previous was faulty.
I find it a really good monitor (although no previous experience with them!). I am a little confused about the title saying "Talk audio". To me that says I can talk to my baby while I'm downstairs and he is upstairs- which you can't, but I'm not too bothered about doing that anyway. One half of the monitor stays in the baby's room which needs to be located somewhere near a plug socket and has a little red light which stays on all the time. It also has a little night light which glows orange but you can turn this off if you want (from only that monitor).
The other half of the monitor does not need to be plugged in all the time and you can walk around the house with this. It has a belt clip at the back which can be turned so the monitor is tilted up for you to see the screen more easily. The battery life is about 6 to 8 hours and then you can recharge it with the supplied lead. You can prolong the battery life by switching the mode of the monitor so the screen only comes on when the baby cries.
When the baby's room is dark the screen will only show black and white images, but I think it does show colour images when there is light in the room. The portable monitor does have lullabys which you can play and will be heard on the monitor in the babys room but to be honest these are pretty loud and you can't adjust the volume!
The screen itself has good clarity (I can see my baby breathing) and does refresh quickly every 10 seconds. The monitor also does have a little fuzzing noise which I wouldn't like all night while sleeping but, like I say, you can switch the mode and therefore get rid of the noise.
I find that the monitor comes on quickly when my baby starts making a noise and there is no delay in the monitor transfering this sound. Basically, you can hear it in stereo when your near the baby and monitor!
