This item is first and foremost designed to travel and therefore collapses to enable this but by doing so it inherently means that it can not have a opening/closing gate in it, which I must say is very obvious from the pictures, even to a one eyed muppet.If you want a system that opens then buy one of the many dozens that is available on the market ,often at less cost.
We use it to stop are one year old escaping into the garden and take it on travels when visiting family, very light and very portable, and it does exactly what it is designed for.

Set up was quite easy for this gate and the first time we used it no problems. However, when carrying the gate it is very easy to touch the adjusting buttons on the top and bottom rail and alter the width of the gate or as we found out allow the rails to move very slightly and not 'click' into place which means the gate is no longer rigid and could fall over with relatively light pressure. Fortunately we were using it as a puppy barrier and not at the top of the stairs for a toddler. So just a word of caution, but on the whole a good product.

This safety gate is a big asset to our lifestyle with an active 9 month old and even our small dog (who can climb through conventional safety gates).
It is versatile, easy to pack away and the ideal purchase for taking away with you. We have used ours around the house and in a caravan. The perfect holiday item.
