Exceptional description of mental disintegration,
By Jaybird (London, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Limits of Vision (Paperback)
Limits of Vision is the story of the mental breakdown of an isolated housewife, told over the course of a day. The day begins with Martha preparing to hold a coffee morning.
Irwin's book is an uncomfortable read, because it takes you so far inside Martha's mind, but is a work of great prowess and insight nonetheless. Told in minute detail, this book is stylistically not dissimilar to Nicolson Baker. It is the way that Irwin captures every fleeting thought of Martha's that makes this book stand out. It is an extraordinary book that deserves to be read.
