Firstly I should warn you that this book is for an adult audience, some of these limericks are very rude. I don't know anyone who doesn't like a good limerick, especially when they are smutty, and this book contains a lot of them. Cloth bound hardback with a dust jacket and integral bookmark this is another great little book from the Collector's Library. The print is of a standard size despite the vast quantity of limericks this small book contains, thus not making a strain on your eyes.

The limericks are set out in different sections thus making it easier if you are looking for something on a particular subject, plus there is an index at the rear. There is an introduction about nonsense rhymes, limericks, and anti-limericks, which this book also contains. The English language is ripe for double entendres, and we have a fine tradition of wordplay in this country, which can quite clearly be seen in this fantastic book. The vast majority of the limericks/anti-limericks contained here are of a smutty nature (as the majority of limericks are), and some of them may be a bit rude for some people.

Being a nice size to put in your pocket you can have a laugh wherever you are when you have a spare few moments, also there are some here that you are bound to want to tell others. All in all this is a book that you don't want to miss out on, it will bring you hours of pleasure as you re-read all these limericks time and time again.

I have given this three stars because like all the Collectors Library output it is beautifully produced and, in this case very well illustrated with some sensational line drawings. But the content, oh dear, hardly merits two. It is a repeat of so many earlier books of limericks. The same, now tired, limericks about men from Devizes and girls from Regina, not to mention dear old Edward Lear's dated and unfunny output. If you have read the Penguin Book of Limericks, I am afraid you will not find, in this volume, a decent limerick you have not read already. And some of the newer, indecent ones are frankly awful rubbish written by people who really should be seeking medical help.

Although I am a resident of The Netherlands I recieved my High School education in Canada and am brought up with english literature. From that time I have always been facinated by the limerick and therefore bought it to add it to my collection. It contains many new ones that I had forgotten or perhaps never heard or read before. Only the "For Adults Only" wrapper is a bit overdone - the 1984 "The Penguin Book Of Limericks" contains more "adult" limericks than this collection. But I am glad this collection is now available because there are so few - except on the internet of course where there are many to be found butr not well organized.
