but it did! The story (if indeed you can call it that), is bitty, lurching from one thing to another without explaining much at all. As I said in my review of the first book, I am really pleased I didn't have to pay good money for this book.

The author could do better I am sure at telling us about the emotions and feelings that Jensen has...........she seems to just accept that she is a Nixie and if I was her I would be wondering if I had suddenly landed up in the 'funny farm'. Nothing is explained properly hence the low mark (1 star) and it seems the author assumes that everyone knows all about the strange creatures who inhabit Faery from The Unseelie creatures to the Seelie creatures and please don't forget the Dragons.......

I certainly will not be purchasing book 3.

More Faerie antics! 10 Feb 2012

Limerick (book 2 in the Shimmerspell trilogy) starts off one week after Shimmerspell ends.

Jensen, the newly discovered Nixie, is having nightmares in which people are reading her a limerick about `a girl of the sea', a siren called Brennan is following her for some unknown reason, she is dating the pixie Liam, and living with her newly discovered Dad Dermott.

But that isn't even the tip of Jensen's iceberg of troubles, she's being stalked and attacked by dragons, discovering that her best friend is actually a witch, and worrying that Liam is cheating on her, and she still needs to work out how to use the Shimmerspell (the power to move between the mortal realm and the pixie realm) that she had somehow inherited in book 1.

This is an interesting book, there's plenty of action, and it does set up book 3 nicely, but there doesn't seem to be many answers such as what the limerick is about, and how Jensen must really use the Shimmerspell. Hoping that book 3 will have some answers! 8/10

YA Fae adventure 23 Nov 2011
By Cheryl M-M TOP 500 REVIEWER

Much better second book in this YA supernatural series. I can remember reading the first Shimmerspell and can see how the writer has taken on board the constructive criticism and created better work. The dialogue between the characters is more realistic, the characters have more flair and all without losing the genre of YA. In this book Jensen is finding it hard to determine who her friends and enemies are and as always nothing is as it seems. The end is pretty abrupt, perhaps too much so and the last scenes could be a little less rushed, but there is also an excerpt of the new book to entice the reader to get the third part.I would suggest a prologue for the people who haven't read the first, which means this can be read as a stand alone book without too much confusion.
