This is a great little book to have on the Kindle because the size issues that readers have noted don't apply as you can make the text as big as you like. I am a near-beginner but even so I started out thinking that the book was too basic for me. Being a knitter, I already know the difference between fingering yarns and Arans, and understand that to make a bigger stitch you need a bigger hook. However, there is a lot in this book if you read on, and also some aspects to the basic stuff that you might not know. Lily Chin describes, for example, the different shapes of hook and why you might prefer one over another. She also points out that different materials affect how slippery the hook is and that your choice should depend on your technique, speed and the yarn you are using, since a slippery yarn would work best with a less slippery hook, for example. I hope I am not giving the impression that everything in this book is very basic. It is not, even though Lily Chin makes info sound so simple and logical. You should really know everything in this book if you want to be great at crochet. If you already know much of it, this will be a good revision, and will still teach you new things; if you don't know much, this is surely an excellent place to start.
Another reason for buying this on a Kindle is that you will want to highlight or bookmark stuff and with the Kindle you can also search for specific words, making it so easy to find your way around.
I would also like to recommend Lily Chin's Mosaic Crochet dvd as it is a delight and a great help to see the master at work. I downloaded the dvd direct from Interweave (no import tax and instant gratification) but you can probably buy it over here now if you prefer.
