'The Lily And The Bull' is a compelling re-creation of life in Minoan Crete more than a millenium before Christ - a world where past and present intersect, the forces of good and evil clash, and everyday life is charged with the super-natural.
Lerii, the gentle and lovely daughter of the chief gardener at the palace, is in love with Thyloss, the son of the keeper of the queen's bulls. Thyloss looks forward to a future as a bull dancer, a position of great importance; and Lerii has reason to hope that he may return her love. But their hopes are shaken by events beyond their control. When the sickly young prince dies after a lingering illness, the perverse and willful queen defiles the island's sacred rites in an effort to recall her son to life. Her bitter refusal to accept his death and her desperate attempt to recapture a long-lost love wreak havoc, and ultimately endanger her kingdom's very existence. Lerii and Thyloss are drawn into the queen's ever-widening circle of grief and destruction. With the aid of a powerful and mysterious woman whom Lerii encounters high in the mountains, it falls to them to try to warn the islanders of the doom that threatens to engulf them.
