This is a light-hearted read and not a bad way to spend .99 on a rainy evening. There's nothing very satisfying about it though. The H and h are nice people, and the writing is pretty solid. I was annoyed by the H's mother, especially amount of "screen time" she got in a book with only a few chapters. There really is zero plot. My favorite moment in the entire story is when the H walks over to the h's front door to escort her the 20' back to his house for a supper party. It was a sweet gesture, but as the highlight of an entire story, it's not much to go on. :]
I picked this up because I had just read I Love the Earl, a novella (not short story, like this one) by the same author, and I was itching to try something else of hers before jumping into a full-length novel. I absolutely loved that one. Whether or not you choose to read LNO, be sure to pick up ILTE!
