Often shocking and violent, but also highly charged and erotic 13 Jun. 2012
By Bobbi Cinaede - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This is one dark and edgy collection of taboo stories, let me tell you! Personally, I love the erotic power exchange of dominance and submission, but not even I was prepared for the extent to which some of these stories pushed the boundaries. That's not to say they're unnecessarily cruel or sadistic, not at all. In fact, they are all high charged, very erotic stories, but they do have their often times shocking, and sometimes violent moments.

When they say Like it or Not, they aren't kidding around!

Out of Options is a great kick-off to the collection. It sets just the right tone, and just the right expectations, with its mix of reluctant sensuality and sexuality. My only complaint is that it ends just when it's really starting to get good - with heels and a dress!

Obedience Classes is a complete change of pace, and one that kind of shocked me a bit. It's a werewolf tale, one that delves deep into the wilderness pack mentality and pairs up a rebellious young wolf with his new gay Alpha. Beautifully violent, especially under the light of the full moon, if you can imagine such a thing.

What It's Worth is probably the most unrealistic story of the bunch, one that seems to stray a bit too far into non-consensual fantasy, but one which I still thoroughly enjoyed. I loved the young virgin reporter's curious mix of fear and curiosity.

Blindside is a much softer, more playful story, but something about it bothered me. I think it was the peer pressure, the fear that it might all be a prank, that simply struck too close to home.

Unnatural Means is one of the darkest stories in the collection, but boy was it a good one. I'm always up for a little heresy in my erotica, and the idea of a confessor taking sexual advantage of presumed witch really set me off.

Salting the Earth was definitely the most fantastic of the bunch, but a great piece with which to end things. Here we have a missing sister, a protective older brother, and rather perverse Faery King who won't give up his secrets easily, much less take 'no' for an answer.

Not an easy read by any means, and definitely not recommended for anybody who is not 100% comfortable with the idea that 'no' can, under the right circumstances, mean 'maybe'. The stories can be cruel at times, but they are always erotic . . . for both parties . . . and that is what sets non-consensual apart from the ugliness of rape.

Like it or Not = Yeah, I Like it Like That! 14 Mar. 2013

Really liking the `Like it or Not' theme. It's more no, but yeah, but no, but yeah with a final: Oh yeah!

I started my journey jumping right to the middle looking for that hidden nugget.

Blindside (Stella Harris): I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with such a title other than to look both ways (including up). It did, and it hit several kink buttons extending my cardio workout well past the plan with a pretty happy ending -- story, pants, and calories! I guess you could say my workout plan was blindsided ;)

As they mentioned in the review above, this hits close to home. Well, I suppose it can a little, but this is one of its appealing characteristics as I essentially become Dylan, and was literally, in my mind, up on the medical table with my jockstrap being lowered by another jock ;) This story taps a few fetishes and the use of fear and pressure to enact dominance. Beautifully written and time simply flew by as I read all heated up partly from the workout and partly from the hardness erupting down below. From some level, with all three of my legs in motion, let's just say I gave it three legs up!!!

Obedience Classes (Sean Michael): I enjoyed the animalistic nature of this one, and it also combined fetish that is a hard `No' for most into a workable fantasy solution. Due to the true wild nature, it was totally acceptable where in another context it would be deemed to inappropriate to publish in most settings I imagine. But, just as in the first story I read, there are multiple packed scenes of hot action, as well as a building of the relationship. And while I personally can't completely relate to being a wolf, I feel a little of that beast may have entered for a brief moment during one of the dominance scenes. As one who bottoms more than Tops, I can easily relate to some of the action of putting myself in these scenes. Woof!

The others were enjoyable, and interestingly, the one titled Unnatural Means hit me closer to home simply as I have a visceral reaction to someone being mistreated while incarcerated. Even though it was set in medieval times with witchcraft the charge, I still had the injustice reaction. Great read though, and they even break out and threaten with an ancient torture device - not spoiling the fun here though.

Overall, this was a fun read and great for extending your workouts in more ways than one or simply relaxing at home.
Pretty hard core, but great 9 Nov. 2013

This book had a lot of imagination, seemed real to me, was scary and plumbed the depths of human nature. I think that there are a lot of degrees of submission and dominance, and quite frankly, I get a little tired of the happy happy sub and dom relationships. This book was great.
