I was initially disappointed with this book, while it claims to be a "touchy feely" book there isn't really much difference in texture. There are a few surfaces that are a little bumpy and one or two ridges which are far too subtle to appeal to my toddler. That said he still really likes this book. It's very simple; most pages have one colour and simple bold pictures of fruit of that colour. I think the bright eye catching pictures appeal to my son and it's helped him learn his colours so while not really a touchy feel book it's been worthwhile none the less.

This is amazingly printed high quality board book that can survive even the hardest attempts to chew on it or tear it apart. The design is very appropriate, the background for the fruits resembles a wooden surface and it allows to concentrate on the fruit itself.

It has different touch and feel portions for each fruit, there are 2-4 examples of fruits-berries for each color. I strongly recommend for those seeking a good educational board book for 6 months-2 years old kid (or even older), it can be used for learning about colors and fruits.

Im not sure whos going to enjoy this book more - me or my sisters baby. This is a lovely little book with good illustrtaions and some different textures for baby to discover. A lovely introduction to fruit. I also bought "I like vegetables" which i am even more pleased with if thats possible! Would definitely recommend and by more from this collection!

So cute! 5 May 2011

Sometimes it feels as though the makers of baby board books just went to some clipart database or knock-off Disney catalog for illustrations. Not so here!

I love the creative collage style illustrations in this book, so it is a pleasure for me to read -- which is good, because my daughter (17 mo) likes it so well that we read it many times every day! She loves the cutouts with textured pieces. She has learned to say her colors reading this book. Though there aren't many words, it's fun to play the "where is the raspberry?" game "Can you show me an apple?" Identifying things this way is new to my daughter, so it's a fun game and good learning.

This book would be entirely appropriate to read with even the youngest baby. Though infants tend to fixate on images of faces, as soon as your baby is old enough to like texture and color, he will like this book.

For an inconsequential nitpick: I wish that the fruit at the end (fruit salad picture) didn't have a somehow pit-less peach and plum! It doesn't make me like the book less, I just wish that it didn't show the flesh going all the way to the center. Makes the peach pieces look more like persimmon. Oh well! That really doesn't matter when all the pictures have been so delightfully put together. Even on the glossy board-book page, the textures and variations in the original collage work come through. Such a fun exercise in illustration and modern design!

I just bought the vegetable one and expect to like it just as well.

We read these books everyday! 9 Aug. 2012
By Busy Mom - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Board book
We received "I like fruit" at our baby shower and it was a hit from the beginning! She didn't start touching the textures until 5 or 6 months, and then around 8 months she figured out how to turn the pages and it became even more fun! Thankfully these are high quality board books perfect for little hands, and have held up better than several others (as we have read them over and over...and over again!). We now own "I like vegetables" and "I like bugs" as well. I love the art and textures in all the books. I also love how they are short and sweet, but can become easy topics for learning conversations (ie. colors, numbers, etc.). Because I speak another language, I often read the first time in English and the second time in the other language (it's easy to do because the books are not too wordy). I would recommend any in the series as they are a big hit at our house, but "I like fruit" is my favorite, and "I like bugs" is her favorite.

"I like fruit" focuses on colors: red, green, yellow, orange, blue and purple, with all the fruit included on the last page.

Adorable Book! 9 Sept. 2010

I bought this board book for my 21 month old- he loves it! He carries it around everywhere since we got it and likes pointing out the different fruit. The illustrations are adorable, and it is a great tool for teaching colors and fruits!

Very pretty, but not a lot of substance 4 Jun. 2013

Maybe my kiddo just isn't old enough yet to engage with this book by doing things like pointing to and identifying the fruits, but there's not a lot of substance to this book. It's really beautiful, but there's not much to read, and certainly no story. Just the fruits, grouped by color. I could see this being great when teaching different fruits to baby, or different colors, or even counting, but for my seven month old, this book was sort of a bust.

simple but fun 22 Aug. 2011
A Kid's Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Board book
My son has enjoyed pointing out the fruit in this book since he was about 6 months old and is really into it now (12 mos). It is very simple but pretty - every time he points at a square with a fruit in it, we say the name and he likes the predictability. The touchy part is fun but not overly distracting. The yellow/pear page is his favorite. We'll be getting the "I love toys" volume too.
