Another stunning release from Ochre. I'd hesitate to call it "flawless," but it's close. Lovers of complex, intricate, melodic, soulful electronic music will not be disappointed.

I could wax lyrical about the loveliness spread thick and even across this album, but, really, you should just buy it.

Let me set the scene for you. I've been looking for new music that interests me for many years now and have long been disappointed. The sweet point of my taste is at the intercept of Plaid, Mike Oldfield & Arvo Part.

Imagine then my joy at finding a new album that raises goose pimples as can all of the above.

Like Dust of the Balance is a masterpiece of seamless intertwining of acoustic and electronic elements into one sinuous whole; the tracks Raido and Napolese are genuinely world-class.

If you're acquainted with Ochre's prior work I'd say this album takes 'Infotain Me' as it's jumping-off point and takes the game to a whole new level, adding delicate and understated guitar, mandolin and other acoustic melody lines to Ochre's established electronic mastery.

If you're a fan of exquisite, complex electronica then buy this without a second thought; I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

An undiscovered gem 14 Jan 2010
Format:MP3 Download
This is the latest Ochre album, its a more organic work than Lemodie, with more strings, instruments and less digital sound. Its a masterpiece. I love the haunting drums of 'dustlands' the jazz note and hum of 'whispers' and 'a great wave', which sounds like all the best things Plaid ever did in one track ! Its a warm electronic soundtrack which is head and shoulders above the rest and deserves full marks.
