5.0 out of 5 stars Great scifi and fantasy magazine 10 Aug. 2012
I subscribed to the magazine a few issues ago having heard about it on the Geeks Guide to the Galaxy podcast. I am really glad I did it is full of well selected short stories , ebook exclusives and novellas by some famous names you will recognise from the sf novel shelf ,from some great short story authors normally found in SF anthologies and some newer authors. It is a great way to cram in astory between appointments and to be introduced to new authors from bith the SF and Fantasy genres. I have found myself rading and enjoying stories in themes that I would probably not have grabed from the bookshelf , so it has expanded my SF horizons a bit. The exclusive content is easily worth the subscription. If you have a kindle and an iPad it is even better as you get to appreciate the cover art.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Fantasy/Sci-Fi Magazine 1 Jan. 2013
By Q - Published on Amazon.com
Verified Purchase
This magazine is a little over 2 years old now, and I started my subscription about 3 months ago. After reading several issues now, I think I can give a review that is not based on just one read. Moving on, this magazine contains 4 new stories, and 4 reprints in each issue, and some stories are available for podcast. The cover art seems to always catch my attention. To sum this up in a few words, all I can say is that I look forward to each issue and read them right away and usually cannot stop until I have read it from cover to cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant speculative fiction stories: highly recommended! 2 May 2013
By EM - Published on Amazon.com
Every issue of Lightspeed offers science fiction, fantasy and author interviews. In it you can read all types of speculative fiction from near-future, sociological, soft sf, to far-future, star-spanning SF. And, all types of fantasy--high fantasy, contemporary urban tales, surrealism, magical realism, science fantasy, folktales...and anything and everything in between. Lightspeed consistently delivers brilliant stories by some of my favorite authors and also introduces me to emerging talents.

I also love the author interviews: getting a behind the scenes peek at what motivated the author, how the story developed is always fascinating. And to top it off Kindle subscribers get exclusive content not available online: I like that lots!

The editor, John Joseph Adams, has published a bunch of brilliant anthologies including Wastelands, and Brave New Worlds. I'm very happy with my Kindle subscription because each issue lets me delve into wondrous worlds, mind-opening ideas, and character driven stories. Highly recommended.

By VERNON J. VANSTEENKIST - Published on Amazon.com
Initially, I purchased this magazine for its science fiction stories. I discovered that it contained excellent and engrossing fantasy stories as well. If you enjoy engrossing, thoughtful science fiction and fantasy writing, this magazine is for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rarely memorable 3 April 2015
By Mark Blackham - Published on Amazon.com
i gave lightspeed a good go; six or seven issues. i love classic sci fi and wierd fantasy. the content here tends to be etheral sci fi and mudane metro fantasy. tbe topics are predictably 'modern'. the authors are newish so the writing is sometimes self conscious, self indulgent or laboured. i read all mags cover to cover, but nothing here was arresting or memorable.
