Biography

Sometimes stepping away from something can remind how much you love it. Yellowcard’s hiatus for the past few years was in no way an ending for the group, but rather a pause that’s revived the band’s passion for their music. Early last year Parsons began approaching his bandmates with the idea of beginning their fifth album—a follow- up to 2007’s Paper Walls. The ... Read more in Amazon's Yellowcard Store

5.0 out of 5 stars as good as if not better than ocean avenue! 16 Mar 2006
Format:Audio CD
i am a huge yellowcard fan and ocean avenue was a piece of pure genious in my opinion. so of course i eagerly awaited lights and sounds when i heard it was coming out in jan. but like others i was a little unsure on whether the brilliance of ocean avenue could ever be bettered. it was.

in all honesty lights and sounds perhaps doesnt have quite as big stand out tracks like 'ocean avenue', 'way away' and 'only one' were, but every song on the album is amazing at worst, which is great cause there's nothing worse than filler material.

lights and sounds will really hit u on a personal level if you're anything like me, i saw yc live last week and i currently worship them more than i ever have done.

overall, ignore any reviews that say its not quite up 2 the standard of ocean avenue, and give it a try. its as good as if not better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! 29 Aug 2006
Format:Audio CD
I suppose I'm not really a huge Yellowcard fan but I'd heard a couple of the singles from Ocean Avenue and was quite impressed but I thought this album really was something different. I love the fact that they are unique from other bands like them eg. Simple Plan or Sugarcult because they have a more chilled sound, eg. Three Flights Up which is a beautiful instrumental piece and the intro to Waiting Game also highlights the skill of the violinist in the band, giving it less of a mainstream vibe. Rough Landing, Holly, the follow up single to Lights and Sounds is brilliant because it is so experimental and interesting and has a great beat. Its such a great album because it doesnt conform to all the rest of the stuff out there, its on permemenant repeat on my Ipod!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not their best
In summary, liked this because I enjoyed oceans Avenue, this album isn't as good, bit heavier and lyrics not so rhythmic OK but no stand out songs to my ears
