I agree that this book does not get into depth like other lighting books, but often this is the case with Birkhauser books. The intent is to introduce the reader to a broad range of ideas and topics, to spark inspiration. From there the reader goes out and fills in the blanks. This can be irritating, but I find this book to be helpful for exposing me to new perspectives and ideas in relation to lighting. If Narboni were to go into great detail for each heading and subheading, the book would be hundreds of pages. This is certainly not a how-to manual, it is a starting point. An expensive starting point, but nonetheless I have found it to be very helpful in considering new directions and concepts in lighting design, in relation to landscape and the urban nightscape.
