TOP 1000 REVIEWERon 3 September 2013
I'm a huge fan of lights and have loads dotted all over the house. I have 3 headlights of which this is in the middle in quality considering the (Amazon) price. It's very light and has 3 adjustable elasticated straps that fit around the head and over the crown. It comes with 3 AAA batteries already so you can use it straight away and putting these in was fairly simple. You need to unscrew the side that is very helpfully and clearly labelled to open up the battery cylinder which slides right out. Ensure you put the batteries the right way up by following the clearly labelled + and - sticker. The cylinder can only go back in one way so you must align the arrows on the battery cylinder with the small rail on the inside of the headlight and finally screw the cap back on. The light switch is a rubber button on the right side of the headlight (as you wear it on your head) and cycles around 4 light settings; 2 LED lights for low beam; 10 LED lights for medium beam; all 18 LED lights for high beam; 2 red LED lights. Given that it takes 3 AAA batteries I was surprised at the lack of brightness but I think I'm more used to beam lights with more focus. It does the job satisfactorily and is nice for the price of under a fiver at Amazon. The headlight angle is adjustable to predefined angles by bending the light downwards and can bend all the way to lighting vertically downwards which I found quite unusual but potentially useful. All in all very nice for the price.

This head torch isn't going to blow your socks off, but that shouldn't come as a surprise considering the price. It is however, adequately bright to light your way on a dark path, help you get things out of the car and find your way to the fuse box during a power cut; all while enabling you to use both hands.
In my opinion the price point on Amazon is around the right area, as items a lot worse than this, have been sold for a lot more.

The torch has four lighting modes that cycle through using the little clicky button located on the right side of the lamp unit when wearing it. These are, 2 LEDs, 10 LEDs, 18 LEDs, 2 red flashing LEDs. Another press of the button after the flashing red mode and the light turns off.
The lamp unit can direct light at five different angles by simply moving it up or down. The upper most angle in my experience lights up things just above your eye line so is great in dark cupboards etc. The next angle down lights up directly at eye level, so is great for normal use. The next level down is at an angle where if you were to sit down and look at a computer screen, it would perfectly light up the keyboard. The next angle lights up your nose slightly, or if you tilt your head forward, your chest, so would be helpful to look at your jacket in the dark etc. The final angle brightly lights up your nose, and not much else. The only use for such an acute angle is to identify yourself, but even then it seems a little pointless.

The length of the head bands can be altered to fit most sized heads. Other reviewers have commented on the brittle and flimsy nature of the plastic that attaches the lamp unit to the head bands. I have only had this item for a week and haven't used it extensively, so can't comment on its durability.

In conclusion, I believe this is a great little head torch that does exactly what you would expect at this price point. Can't complain. I usually start at five stars and take away a star for any issues I can find. In my weeks usage of this product, I have found no issues with the product and it ticks all the boxes for a head torch costing £4.99.

This design is sold under several brands. The light is OK, however the plastic which the bands are attached to is too thin, weak, brittle rubbish, so don't be surprised when it snaps; basically, you get what you pay for!

This head torch is a decent buy for something that's quite inexpensive. Don't expect it to perform like a second sun or you'll be disappointed, however for cheap hands-free lighting when you're potting around the shed or camping it's not too bad at all. The plastic does feel a little bit cheap when you put the battery cartridge in, however it's not a bad trade off really. The torch is advertised as offering 4 brightness levels, however it's closer to 3 brightness level plus the addition of 2 red flashing LEDs. This brightness level is changed by a small rubbery button on the side of the torch which also acts as the on switch. The head strap seems well made, adjustable and is comfy to wear. Additionally the torch is easily adjusted vertically to change the direction of the beam and locks with a satisfying click. In summary for a cheap torch for camping or pottering around outside it's absolutely fit for purpose, however if you're buying this for sports or expecting it to light the entire garden then you might be disappointed.

Arrived next day. I needed something like this for dog walking. A standard torch is an encumbrance when your huge GSD decides to go Turbo after a squirrel, and you're being dragged along at a pace you couldn't achieve as a fit teenager on the school relay team. It's bright enough to give ruddy rodents notice that a predator is on the way, and also to put the fear of Zombies into teenage tearaways lurking behind trees.

This was bought as a present for my son and he loves it! It is light weight, easy to use and adjust to head size. The way the straps are set up also make it nice and secure on the head.

Before I bought this I was putting off replacing a dimmer switch till the summer and broad daylight. Pulling the fuse in a dark cellar, finding my way through a house with no lights, then working on a switch with six terminals all done in darkness was simple with this item. I have tried before with a variety of spotlights but I always seemed to be getting in my own light or finding the light was not where it was needed. A light that shines where you are looking is the best solution.
The only improvement would be the variable focus option which I had not considered necessary before.

This is an excellent product. Very comfortable even though it looks a little bulky it is not heavy or unbalanced. The light has several levels of brightness which is useful, however the red lights flash which it didnt mention in the listing (a little annoting as this was the reason i purchased). Seems fairly waterproof (in the rain as opposed to diving in a swimming pool) overall a good torch!

This was a joke gift for my dad as he's always moaning that its him who has to take out the bins in the dark.

It's turned out to be the most used Christmas gift that anyone in our house received.
Taking out bins, looking in dark cupboards and any othe rtime you need a torch but don't have a free hand this is perfect.

Really cheap and bright enough to make it worth it.

Brilliant item as far as head torches go. It's no lighthouse, but it is more than adequate for most peoples needs. It's certainly bright enough and the three different brightness levels is ideal depending on your needs at the time. The strap itself is very comfortable and remained in place throughout my little project. Good build quality and really, you can't go wrong for the price.
