'Another delightful story about the much-loved,
Grinlings, who are `very special guests' at the lighthouse's 200th birthday party. They dress up as pirates and prepare to have lots of swashbuckling fun. But when they take to the high seas, they have far more pirate adventures than they could ever have imagined.
Suddenly breakfast seems a long way off.......'

31 high quality shiny pages, in the popular 2-page spread format (except the last one!) with superb illustrations, throughout, from Ronda Armitage.

Aimed at the older, more confident reader - the print is on the smaller side, and the story is enhanced by some comic-style speech bubble text....and....... those seagulls are back!

Example of text:-

`Mr and Mrs Grinling lived with their cat, Hamish, in a little white cottage perched high on the cliffs.
Mr Grinling was a lighthouse keeper. By day and night, with his assistant Sam, he lovingly tended the light.
One Wednesday morning when Sam was polishing, he noticed a tiny inscription right at the top of the lighthouse.
"Well, well," he said to himself. "Just fancy that!"
"Our lighthouse is 200 years old this year," he told everyone.
"We should celebrate," said Mrs Grinling.
"Maybe some presents," said Mr Grinling.
"A fresh coat of red and white paint."
"And a party," said Mrs Grinling.
"How about fancy dress?" suggested Sally de la Croissant, the baker.
"Something to do with the sea," said Jason the postman.
"I've got a lovely octopus suit,"...........'

And fancy dress it is, with a bit of a twist!
After some thought about shark suits and mermaid costumes, the Grinlings decide to dress as pirates and spend rather a lot of time practising their parts, much to the horror of others.......with some spitting, swearing and roaming the seven seas, not to mention "Oo-aargh-ing"!
Poor Hamish gets volunteered as a `pirate cat', but manages to do a disappearing act every time the neat little costume appears!
Even the seagulls are, unnaturally, on the quiet side!

On the night of the party, things don't go quite according to plan......and the Grinlings get the opportunity to train as `real' pirates......which includes passing the 6 'Incredibly Difficult Pirate Tests'!
Shiver me timbers!
