5.0 out of 5 stars The best Via Francigena guides 1 Feb 2011
Format:Paperback
The LightFoot guides to the Via Francigena are the result of years of research and revisions based on feed back from walkers and are now the best guides for the route from Canterbury to Rome. They contain clear detailed route descriptions with maps for walkers and cyclists. List of accommodations and other useful contacts. There is no superfluous information. The weight is about 350g, so light enough to carry in your backpack. It is no exaggeration to say that these guides define the route and are a MUST for anybody planning to walk along the Via Francigena.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best guide for the Via Francigena 15 Dec 2010
By Neville Tencer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
My wife Julie and I walked the Via Francigena a few years ago. Had we had used this guide it is very possible our little walking journey would not have not become an escapade. Such is life! (It did however give us a good excuse to write a book about our little audacious walk along the Via Francigena)

For English speaking readers this is probably the best guide to use for anybody considering tackling the Via Francigena. Even though there are other guides including an Italian and German guidebook and now a French guidebook, this guide even for all non English speaking readers, is the most up to date guidebook available today.

It a bit heavy to carry but it includes accommodation information, detailed maps and routes descriptions - something you need to have in order to successfully do the Via Francigena in Italy. It also describes alternate routes where the official route may not make sense. It is also an ideal guide for cyclists, since both Paul and Babette have cycled the entire route too.

If you have done the Camino de Santiago in Spain and looking to tackle a more demanding and maybe adventurous walk through Italy, then I would consider this guide and using it on the Via Francigena.
