This is one of the best Reiki books ever. It's written by a Japanese master - Tadao yamaguchi - whose mother Had learned Reiki from Dr. Hayashi. So you get the japanese perspective on Reiki and also very important historical facts unknown by most of us who learned western reiki. I can't praise this book enough!

Highly reccomended to all Reiki practitioners

This book is an authentic glimpse into Japanese Reiki received through Hayashi sensei as preserved by the Yamaguchi family. I highly reccomend this book for its authenticity and insight into how Reiki was practiced in Japan after Usui-sensei began to spread his teachings in a more formalized manner.
Light on the Origins of Reiki is an excellent guide to the practitioner, and it provides numerous historic photographs, explanations of the effects of Japanese culture and history on the emergence of the Reiki System, as well as many examples of the efficacy of Reiki Ryoho.
this is a valuable tool, containing a new translation and explanation of Usui's admonitions (also known as the gokai, or five principles) as well as some of Emperor Meiji's poetry, which was known to be used by Usui-sensei as a teaching tool.
Overall, practitioners of all styles and traditions of Reiki will find the heart and sincerity of this books traditional methods to enhance and complement their own.

This is an excellent and informative book dealing primarily with a specific form of Reiki with clear links to the founding Japanese Masters Mikao Usui and Chujiro Hayashi. It provides much historical and cultural information, some of which I have not seen mentioned in other books, and also provides some excellent historical photos from the early years of Reiki in Japan. What I also found particularly interesting were insights into Japanese cultural attitudes to Reiki - wonderful background information never published in previous books on Reiki. Translation from the original Japanese author's text has been accomplished accurately and sensitively. I highly recommend this book to any student of the practice. Jim Frew, Reiki Master, Australia.

Interesting Read

Tadao Yamaguchi tells a story about his mother Chiyoko Yamaguchi and how Reiki came into her life. He shares some stories of his childhood and how his mother healed him numerous times with Reiki. This book seems to be more of a life story and also how Reiki was originally practiced in Japan during the 30s. Chapters are... Some Words About Jikiden Reiki, Reiki & My Family, Basic Reiki Knowledge, Japan-Background To The Birthplace of Reiki, Practical Application, How Jikiden Reiki Is Taught and Feedback From Jikiden Reiki Students. I found the "Lectures On Byosen-Feeling The Accumulations of Toxins" quite fascinating in this book. I am still new to Reiki and trying to learn as much as i can about it, so this was a interesting read for me.
