Product Description
Bryn is the daughter of a humble stone-cutter. So no one is more surprised than she when the Master Priest seeks her out to become a student at the famous Temple of the Oracle; a training school for future priests and priestesses. But her innately gifted nature proves a threat to the evil embedded within the Temple, and Bryn encounters unimaginable danger. Is she able to struggle with the unknown and to save the whole world from untold misery? Or will the powers of darkness succeed? --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

From the Back Cover
A child born to such a calling is often called a dreamer …

Bryn is a humble stonecutter’s daughter, accustomed to being tagged the odd one, the strange girl, the shiftless creature. She is disturbed by visions of things no one else can see, sneered at because she talked to the wind and sky. Why, then, does the village priest think so highly of her?

But the day comes when a spinning thistledown leads Bryn to her destiny – to a place very different from the tiny village where she has spent her first fifteen years. She enters the famous Temple of the Oracle, and discovers that her innate gifts make her a terrifying threat to those who seek to abuse the Temple’s power for their own glory.

Though her desires are simple – friendship with other handmaids and gaining the love of Kiran, a remarkable horse-trainer – she soon finds her path obscured by complex troubles. Struggling to keep the flame of her spirit pure and bright, Bryn must overcome more obstacles than she could ever imagine.

This extraordinary novel sweeps you into a world that can almost be touched – one where the people and colours remain in your mind for days after the book is closed. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice little read for a rainy day inside...., 26 Dec 2006

(REAL NAME)
The story starts off by introducing Bryn, the daughter of a humble stone-cutter and who is rather a clumsy girl and very shy. One day while playing in the meadows with light fly's she unintentionally bumps into the Master Priest of the Oracle who feels a certain powerful vibe from Bryn and asks her parents permission if she could become a student at the famous Temple of the Oracle which is a training school for future priests and priestesses.

Bryn isn't sure that she wants to leave her comfortable home and travel to the Temple Of the Oracle where she doesn't know anyone or anything but on the other hand she doesn't want to shame her family by acting like a coward and so agrees on becoming a trainee priestess. While at the temple Bryn encounters unimaginable danger, the temple is so powerfully corrupt she has to deal with things that she couldn't in her wildest dreams imagine possible and is then plunged into a struggle with the dark forces threatning the very existence of her world.

I found the book an enjoyable read, the story is action-packed yet still uncomplicated and simple, Bryn is great as a main character who changes from a timid young girl to a more mature, powerful young woman. A good book to read on days when it's pouring outside and you just wanna curl up with a nice book, highly recommended!
